Top 10 metal bands right now?

Ok since we have over 110 members and the board gets bigger, who would you consider right now to be the biggest metal bands in the top 10 right now?

Based on true metal no metalcore, hardcore, nu-metal but true metal in any genre of metal, power, progressive, thrash..........
You see what I mean everyones list will vary I tend to go more for power and progressive.

For my top pick it would be:

1. Primal Fear
2. Brainstorm
3. Silent Force
4. Dream Theater
5. Iced Earth
6. Masterplan
7. Sonata Arctica
8. Angra
9. Iron Maiden

metalcore & nu-metal are forms of metal, the same as power or progressive. by your standards of what "true" is...i would not even be allowed to include death, black & grind.

anyway, judging by your list, you are going more by your favorites & not by sales, populaity, media coverage, or longevity. this makes me wonder about your definition of what you call "the biggest metal bands". i mean, in no way would Primal Fear ever be considered a bigger band than Iron Maiden.

If you want to add your metalcore and nu-metal go ahead but I don't consider it in a true metal sense!

I didn't make this based on sales if you misunderstood I'm sorry if you feel you want to add any bands you feel are more worthy then please do so but like I said lists will vary it isn't to technical just a simple band list!

To some nu-metal or hardcore or metalcore might be metal but I tend to think some would agree with me on this.

I could of went probably a whole page of genres but I think you get my drift. Of course Iron Maiden will probably beat Primal Fear in terms of sales probably no other bands will come close to that.

One of the most popular band on this moment (beside the ones already named) i would say TRIVIUM but i can not make a top 10 list of the most popular bands from the last years because i am not into all those fashion bands but AC/DC and IRON MAIDEN are still very big.

Wargod...take out Dream Theater and I have a hard time arguing with your list. It almost perfectly mirrors my current loves....I'd replace DT with Blind Guardian and that's about it!
