Anyone like Mortiis? (Emperor related)

Anyone fan of Mortiis? He was the bass player for Emperor for a couple years if you dig them. I've seen them live a few times and they absolutely killed. Live they came off to me like ambient industrial metal with tendencies for the extreme. Talented musicians and Mortiis himself was pretty wild on stage and really radiated energy. On record though they seem a bit diffirent. Got to meet Mortiis and the entire band during one of the other bands sets and they were all very cool.

So far I only have the album The Grudge but have heard most of the stuff and really enjoy most of it. The early stuff is weird dark synth stuff, and then kind of evolved into a dark electronic pop sound. The latest stuff (my favorite) is heavy industrial. If genre labels help you (they don't mean anything to me) wikipedia lists them as Ambient, Dark Wave, Industrial, Electropop, gothic rock, black ambient.

I am not really sure how I feel about Mortiis' image as he always wears a weird Lord of the Rings style Troll/Orc type mask/makeup combination outfit. It looked pretty neat while he was stomping around on stage but is kind of silly to.

Not exactly my thang, but I remember reading a funny story in a magazine about him years ago. He was in England at the Kerrang magazine awards and had the full make up (fake ears, nose, etc.) on the entire time. I forget what band member was sitting at his table with him but he said Mortiis had trouble during the dinner because his fake nose kept fallling into his glass every time he took a drink

HAHA that is pretty funny. You gotta admit that is dedication

One of the times I saw him, he had a really bad cold and it was really freaking hot in the venue, along with the sound system not sounding right so he ripped all his prostetics off and threw them at someone. The proceded to screw with the venue workers (ie yelling at the sound guy, knocking his mic stand down over and over so that some one had to come pick it up, and then refusing to let them get it by standing on it or throwing stuff at him ect.
