Lately every time I pick up a metal hammer magazine I see something about Turisas. I was looking at the newest one today and yet again there they are. So I figured let me see if they have stuff on iTunes. So I checked out some samples and they sounded pretty good so I went out too see if FYE had the cd and they did so I bought it. Kinda like a Rhapsody/Manowar not too bad. anyone else listen to them?

Honestly, it's probably their worst album. I basically only got it because it was only a few bucks at half.com - and the fact that I'm a die-hard Chastain fan. I just got this one to fill the collection - nothing more. I'll probably spin it once or twice a year tops. When comparing this to the mighty Chastain of the 80s (Voice of the Cult, The 7th of Never, and even Ruler of the Wasteland) - it pales. For diehard fans only. I'd never recommend it as a starting place for getting into the band - but since you are already familiar with them ... I'd recommend it if you are a diehard fan like me. Otherwise - I'd say pass on it.

It's still very metallic, but for some reason David T. Chastain just wanted to jump on the grunge bandwagon here. His solos suck compared to old stuff ... and new singer Kate French just doesn't hold a candle to Leather Leon.

Anyway ... just my opinion of course, but I think most Chastain fans agree that "Sick Society" is their worst album.

I think it's a good album. Nothing like the early stuff, but still really good. I'd say it's similar to the first Drain STH album.

Oh it's a good album. No arguing there. There is really not a bad Chastain album. But when comparing it to let's say "Voice of the Cult" or anything from this era ... it pales.

I didn't mean to come across like it was no good. As that is not what I meant.

I have a love hate relationship with this band. I sold my original copy on ebay but then picked up another used. I like the clean vox and music but hate the growls. I dont normally hate growls but on this one something just gets to me. The music itself is very good and gives that manowar streak in me some satisfaction. If you have not already check out ensiferum - victory songs. turisas is good but i think ensiferum is better.

Considering they're doing four completely sold out (within minutes) shows in a row at the end of this month, with tickets selling for hundreds to over a thousand dollars on eBay and whatnot, I'd say that plenty of people still listen to this kick ass band!
