Well, you don't necessarily have to be a Christian to listen to those bands, do you? I mean, it probably helps (haha), but I can listen to Stryper and Deliverance back to back with Mercyful Fate and Venom on the same day, it's all good music in my book.

I've probably used this line around here many times: I don't care if a band worships God, Satan, Captain Kirk, or the purple Teletubby. If they're a good band, I will listen to them. If they suck, they suck. One band is not "better" than another depending on which side of the fence they're on.

Michael Sweet has said in interviews that he wishes more people could get past the Christian thing and simply appreciate Stryper for what they are - a damn good hard rock band. I'm like "That's me! (raises hand) I'm right here!"

I wasn’t taking a swipe or being sarcastic. It was more just stating the obvious. And you summed it up well… if it’s good, it’s good!

But I will say for me personally… certain lyrics can make me cringe. Whether it’s satanic nonsense or overly cheesy Christian lyrics. Fortunately, most Christian metal has evolved beyond the “we rock for the rock” stuff. Tourniquet was very good with using unusual and sometimes abstract lyrics.

Used to be a pious muslim all my life until April 2022. It was hard getting used to my lack of religion but things are alright now.

No "religion" for me, it's all about "relationship".
