Ironically I don’t own any Saxon albums.

They are one of those bands (like Anvil) that I never got much into. Not to say I don’t like a few tunes here and there. I’d probably get their “Best of” CD (if they have one).

Never owned a Saxon album. Like TZ, Just one of those bands I never got into.

I absolutely love #8. Saw that tour at a club.
They were the loudest band I ever saw live.
I like all their 80s material.
They’re a band like AC/DC or Motorhead……to me anyways.

Arranged in tiers. The top three are super awesome classic gems of the genre. Power and the Glory is good, but a notch below those three. The rest only have parts I like. Crusader is one of the best Saxon songs, but that album as a whole certainly is not up to par.

Their standards kind of dropped as the 80's went on. Destiny is barely heavy metal anymore. Luckily they found second wind in the 90's. And a total rejuvenation in the 00's, and Saxon are one of my favourite bands to day.

The EMI Years box has Innocence Is No Excuse, Rock the Nations, Destiny and Live at Hammersmith (1985). The Beast of Rock is a bootleg with rarities from the early years. More Inspirations is still in plastic. I haven't listened to it yet, thought I got it like two weeks ago

I recently got into Anvil. Though so far I only have This is Thirteen and Juggernaut of Justice. It's never too late!

As for Saxon, I'd recommend some of their newer releases to start with. A great, heavy sound. Lionheart maybe. Get that one. Instant pleaser. Or Sacrifice, if you see it cheaper.
