Live Wire and Take Me to the Top are reason enough for me to pick Motley.
Plus… I’m not familiar with Riot. They are one of those bands (like Anvil) that I never heard. The Anvil documentary was the first time I even heard them.
I guess I didn’t delve as deep into the metal scene as some of you guys. I was just fixated on thrash and death bands and the well known “popular” fan favorites. I didn’t look too much outside of what I knew. Cirith Ungol is another (under the radar) band I haven’t heard much.
Two of the stupidest album covers ever, but both great albums. I went with Crue, simply because their first two albums were so amazing.

Ask me back then, I’d say Motley, but Riot gets my vote today. Great album. And TZ, you need to check them out ASAP! They are an awesome band. The dumbest album covers ever, but great music.
Both albums are great but I listen to Riot way more than the Crue nowadays so they get the nod.

Here is my
The guitar tone on the "Too Fast For Love" album is killer. It was kewl having a So. Calif. band not wearing a suit & tie getting some exposure. Why they chose Roy Thomas Baker to play with anything, much less, the decision to omit tunes is F'n dumb (IMHDO)
Riot was pretty much unknown to the non-musician crowd (at least in my neck of the woods) back then. I had "Narita" and saw "Rock City", but never heard it till after getting "Fire Down Under".
I choose Riot in this poll. Their album has better overall tunes and Guy is the better vocalist. On the Crue album, Tommy was kinda/sorta interesting in what he played, That disappeared quickly, Still dig both albums and listen too 'em often.
