Antlers (2021)
A small town school teacher discovers that one of her troubled students is harboring a dark and dangerous secret in this Guillermo Del Toro produced thriller. She enlists her brother, the sheriff, in trying the deadly and supernatural mystery. I really liked this movie and I believe its the first movie (at least I've never seen one) dealing with this type of legend/monster.

It's the wendigo right? I remember reading about that monster in a novella when I was a kid.

You are correct, sir. I can't say I've ever seen one committed to film before. Although Supernatural did have one as the "monster if the week" in its first season.

The Seed (2021)
3 lifelong friends go on a fun filled weekend getaway at the one girls family villa in the Mojave desert, coinciding with a supposed once in a lifetime meteor shower event. All is fine until something lands in the pool and they discover it's a living creature.and then things begin to go downhill from there, eventually delving into body horror territory about 2/3rds through the movie.

Uncommon Valor (1983)
Another film in the 80s film genre of MIAs still being held captive in Vietnam, this one has much more heart than the others. Gene Hackman stars as a retired Marine colonel whose son went MIA during the final days of the Vietnam War. Finding evidence his son is still alive, he recruits his son's former squad members in a private mission financed by Robert Stack, who also has a MIA son, in the attempt to rescue them all. A very good movie with an action packed third act but with a rather bittersweet ending.

Caddyshack (1980)
Snobs vs. Slobs comedy centered around the goings on at an elite country club. A very quotable film with Chevy Chase, Bill Murray and Rodney Dangerfield that never ever gets old. I can't count how many times I've watched this and I still laugh my ass off at it.

After almost two years, my "Watch the James Bond Series in Order" Marathon has finally reached the modern Daniel Craig era.
"Casino Royale" (2006)
Daniel Craig's debut is a stylish, splashy "reboot" for the entire series, showing James earning his "double-o" status and being sent off on his first big mission: the pursuit of a terrorist financier known as "Le Chiffre," which culminates in a high stakes game of poker in Morocco. A gritty, more realistic adventure than any of the preceding episodes, and still the high water mark of Craig's tenure as 007.
"Quantum of Solace" (2008)
This one picks up exactly where "Casino Royale" left off, with Bond on the trail of the mysterious criminal organization behind the death of his beloved Vesper Lynd. His investigation takes him to South America, where a businessman has plans to take control of the water supply for the entire region. This one's a step down from the big, epic feel of "C.R." but it's a decent enough butt kicker in its own right.

Texas Chainsaw(2013)-originally in 3D, a young woman discovers that she has inherited a house from her grandmother she had never known about. She and some of her partying friends go with her to help her check the new house out. Little do they know that a chainsaw wielding psycho resides in a secret room in the house and loves to carve people up. Also, members of a mob that massacred his(Leatherface) family are still hanging around and are eyeing the girl and her home. A direct sequel to the 74 original, this one ignores all of the other sequels that came before it. However, there is several plot holes in the script. Such as the girl is way to young in the film to match the storyline of her being born in the early 70s(she actually is related to Leatherface's family and was at the massacre as a baby). Still, this is overall a fairly solid film and better than some of the other films in the series. I guess I won't be getting royalties from this one either(see, because I'm Leatherface, you know). 2.5/5 chainsaws

"Skyfall" (2012)
In Daniel Craig's third go-round as James Bond, 007 is assigned to track down a former MI6 agent turned cyber-terrorist (Javier Bardem) who's got a major grudge against Bond's boss "M" (Judi Dench). Oscar winning director Sam Mendes' sweeping espionage epic celebrates the franchise's 50th anniversary in style.

Brotherhood Of The Wolf (2001)
French period action horror film based on actual events from the 1700s involving the Beast Of Gevaudan. A mysterious monstrous creature, eyewitnesses claim it to be a huge wolf, terrorizes the countryside, killing numerous women and children. The King sens in a French knight and his Iroquis blood brother to get to the bottom of the killings. The true nature of the creature is more than anyone would expect. Fun little movie, part horror and part martial arts, if you can believe that.
Darkman (1990)
Sam Raimi's superhero film about a scientist (Liam Neeson) who runs afoul of gangsters and ends up becoming horribly disfigured, while no longer being able to feel pain and possessing great strength, though becoming slightly mentally unhinged during the process. With his unstable invention (liquid skin) he begins enacting revenge on his assailants. A rather cool movie with a great cast, that inspired 2 direct to video sequels, which I have yet to see.

"Ghostbusters: Afterlife" (2021)
The estranged family of the late Dr. Egon Spengler inherits his run-down farm property in the middle of nowhere, Oklahoma. When his grandchildren start poking around his old laboratory and discover his Ghostbusting gear, they learn why he'd moved to this remote location in the first place -- because it's about to become Ground Zero for the second coming of the dreaded Gozer (the big bad from the O.G. 'Busters movie). Jason Reitman (son of the original film's director, Ivan) attempts to bring the franchise back from the brink after the disastrous 2016 all-female remake, and the results are good, but not great. It gets off to a very slow, unexpectedly melancholy start but the total fan-service second half is great fun, with lots of action, old school zapping-and-blasting creature effects, and a welcome visit from some old friends. Better than expected.

Full seasons of the '80s sit com "Night Court" are avail for free viewing on the IMDb TV streaming app so I've been binging on those for the past few days.
Last night I started watching "Richard Pryor: Live in Concert" from 1979 on Netflix, but I dozed off about halfway through.

Cold Prey(2006)-Norwegian horror as a group of friends go on a ski trip, but the fun is cancelled when one of the skiers is injured by breaking his leg. Too far from they're car, they go to an abandon hotel to stay for the night before heading out in the morning. However, an evil has already claimed the old hotel as it's home and soon the skiers begin to disappear one by one. A pretty solid offering that is a little slow at first, but has a better second half at least. WWE studios was said to be making a remake of this, but I've never heard anything about it. Followed by a sequel and a prequel, which I imagine I'll eventually check out. 2.5/5

Been slackin' on the movies lately, I've been watching more TV shows of late (Night Court reruns, A&E's Secrets of Playboy, etc.)... gotta get back in the groove soon!!
Anyway, right now I'm re-watching the ridiculously thorough and very entertaining six part documentary series, "Monty Python: Almost The Truth (The Lawyer's Cut)" again on Netflix. Every M.P. fan needs to see this doc!

I have that (of course - I have everything Python) and I need to watch it again because the only thing I remember is the guys talking about how they wrote the sketches. That they more or less divided into teams and went off and came up with stuff then they'd all regroup and just read back what they had and if everybody laughed then it went into the "Maybe" pile.
For my money Monty Python will never be topped for comic genius. Those guys had the perfect chemistry to come up with every kind of comedy there is, from slapstick to extremely cerebral to downright silly.

Allison's Birthday (1981)
Australian film about a girl warned on her 16th birthday (apparently by the spirit of her deceased father) that doom awaits her on her 19th birthday and to avoid her home at all cost. Of course, she doesn't heed the warning and returns to the home of her aunt and uncle, who raised her for her 19th birthday. Ominous things begin taking place, and she discovers her "family" has sinister plans for her. This movie was a lot better than I expected, and reminded me of the satanic panic films from the 70s.

"The Fiction Makers" (1968)
Theatrical spin off from the British TV series "The Saint," starring future 007 Roger Moore as the suave millionaire do-gooder Simon Templar. Simon is hired to impersonate the reclusive author of a series of suspense novels, which is fine until he's kidnapped by a gang planning a huge heist based on one of those books and they want his "creative input" with the scheme. A light, breezy caper/crime film, Moore's performance is all arched eyebrows and snide sarcasm, but he still stops the bad guys and (of course) gets the girl in the end. This was the first time I'd ever watched any of Roger's "Saint" adventures and I wouldn't mind seeing more.
