My folks were both U.S Navy during WWII. So by the time I popped out in the mid 60's, they were in their mid to late 40's and still listened to the tunes of their youth. A pattern, I emulate being I listen to tunes from my youth.
Anyways, I inherited boxes of 78 rpm Big Band music and listen quite often. Have some compilations on CD as well. I dig it for the most part. Anyone else a fan?

My interest in this style of music turned me on to Louis Bellson. He was the first to do two bass drums. Check out some of his solos. Lots of "metal" guys have incorporated and expanded on what he did. Interesting approach to jazz playing.

I like some of it in doses, but I can't say it's my favorite. I mostly like it because it reminds me of my childhood in a way.

I like it enough to know I'd have loved it then. I like upbeat/faster songs. Even within genres I gravitate to the faster tunes. Even at Church.

My Dad had a couple of those big ole Readers' Digest Music Club multi-record sets (anybody else remember those?) devoted to Big Band stuff. I remember it playing around the house when I was a kid.

It helped me grasp the concept of polyrhythms and seeded my love of melody, which I gravitate towards even in fast, brutal and intense musical styles.
It also peaked interest in study of music theory, which helped with odd time signatures, which improved math skills.
Big picture... memories of my folks are priceless

I like the Big Band era quite a bit myself. Glen Miller Band, Dorsey Brothers, Benny Goodman... etc were all amazing. I still listen to this style on occasion.
