Got my IEC/ISD 17024 certification, which means I get to play with rigging and pile driving toys. 10% pay raise to boot.

Congrats!
You’re doing for real what most kids from the pre-millennial generations dreamed of doing… and you get paid good money!
Now kids are glued to video games and don’t even go outside anymore. No Tonka, Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars etc…
I used to build little towns in the dirt and all that shit from the imagination of a kid’s mind.

Before it was either bringing in the material for the approaches and moving the material for both approaches & channels, to actually getting to work on the bridges themselves.
I use the giant Tonka toy analogy quite a bit. The best part is at the end of the day, I can see that something was accomplished.
There is a lot of technology involved, but software/hardware issues make knowing the old fashioned way of operating a must.

Technology is to be expected… but you still are playing with real Tonka trucks.

Nice!!
My daughters are girly in the traditional sense, and I like that. Trying to get them to go into the military or do a trade wasn't the way to go. But if I had boys? Hard, hard push to do the above things.

Moving material for the paving division at an open pit mine, get to play on a Caterpillar 797F hauler. These bad boys are monsters, 400 ton capacity
It's like an ant farm. Go to point A to get loaded, follow route to point B, and return to point A. Over & Over. Fun week ahead

I get the same rate due to my trucker, operator, and rigger endorsements, classifications, licenses, and certification s.
Only mentioned this cause the kid in me, was jazzed being able to drive something that big. I've driven other mine haulers before, just not that size. Mostly all are automatic transmission and one lever to engage the dump cycle. Not very difficult to operate, you HAVE to be aware of your surroundings.
