C'mon, Pepe LePew adds to rape culture?  Seriously that's a major reach IMO especially since the black and white cat always wins.  Same thing with Speedy Gonzales; he always wins.  In fact if I remember correctly when the PC Police tried to get Cartoon Network to remove Speedy years ago it was the Hispanic population who demanded he stay.

I hear they cut a planned Pepe appearance from the upcoming "Space Jam" sequel, which quite frankly is fine with me, because we don't need a friggin Space Jam sequel anyway. The first one was dumb enough.

The "Space Jam" sequel will also feature a noticeably less, errr, shall we say, "shapely" Lola Bunny, compared to how she looked in the original. I guess Warner Bros. is ashamed of the fact that they pretty much kickstarted the whole "furry" phenomenon with that character

I saw the dr suess books are going way up in price now..  the “controversial“ books fetching hundreds of dollars.. I really hate the disclaimers at the beginnings of the old cartoons.. I also hate that its in my head now.. me and my wife catch ourselves saying they wouldn’t allow that now when we watch old shows sometimes This all started years ago when they banned the disney classic Song of The South.. a movie I saw as a kid in the Theater

Several of the Warner Bros. re-releases of the remastered version of Looney Tunes feature disclaimers as well (one narrated by Whoopie Goldberg!).  I was OK with that because I guess if you insist on viewing something created 75 years ago through today's lens then I guess it makes sense.  I'm more or less OK with "warning labels" if you insist on it.  But the outright banning is where I draw the line.

In the case of the Seuss books, sure it was the Seuss estate who decided to stop the publication of those books but what brought them to that decision?  Most likely public pressure.  Same thing with pulling Pepe LePew from the new Space Jam movie; Lebron would have been attacked mercilessly if he hadn't done it.

Just bought a couple pairs of Looney Tunes shorts at Walmart today. Many characters on the print including Pepe Le Pew. I figure they will be worth money on eBay soon!

That said... this is a very sad state of affairs! This cancellation stuff solves nothing! Erasing history is too Orwellian. There needs to be some pushback from the people that still have their common sense intact.

I just don't get the mindset that if one is offended by something that it gives one the right to prevent others from seeing it. This is like Tipper Gore from the 80s on steroids. I am not sure book banning has ever been the way to go - and those normally in favor of it generally do not look very good from a historical perspective.

It is amusing (in a sad way) that other countries are saying 'no thanks' to the US cancel culture.
