Coming of age as a teen and musician in So. Calif in the late 70's... Vann Halen was considered "our" band. It's another gut punch for this year. RIP

This is terrible! Another tremendous loss.
He was the greatest influence and guitar innovator of the last 40+ years! Just like Hendrix and Iommi, he was a pioneer and king of heavy rock.

Van Halen was among those bands i never really got into, despite owning a good compilation and a couple of other cds.
It's about time i properly revisited those.

Man, my heart skipped a beat when my wife texted me the news of his passing. In my youth there are three bands responsible for my metal and har d rock journey. Rush, AD/DC, and Van Halen. When I finally got a drum set, and my cousin got his first guitar, it was Van Halen he tried to learn. I could say I tried to learn too, but Alex was way above my skill set lol I'm so glad I got to see them on the last tour with DLR. Can't believe hes gone, just doesn't seem real. RIP sir. Thank you for the music, and the memories, you will be missed.

Well, I actually just read on Blabbermouth that Eddie and Sammy were secretly talking again. That’s good. But as far as Michael Anthony... I have no idea. He was the one that deserved amends even more than Sammy.

Had many a discussion via Facebook with old friends. Ironically, myself and a buddy who lives in Hong Kong were just finishing up our Top 25 Van Halen definitive favorites list, that had been going on for way too long. I had heard about Eddie's recent travels to Europe, which I felt wasn't a good sign. Whenever someone goes the alternative medical route, this usually means the situation is dire. It's all so very sad.
