This should be a good read...will be interesting to compare and contrast with KK Downing's book
Quote :
JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford will release his autobiography, "Confess", on September 29 via Hachette Books. Pre-orders are now available at Amazon.
In a new interview with Robert Cavuoto of Sonic Perspectives, Halford stated about the book's title: "I would like to feel there are parts of this book which are relatable to others. Everybody is the same, as we all share similar life experiences. There are so many things that happen to us; we are almost identical no matter where we are from. I've traveled the world and seen how our music can touch people from all walks of life and professions. Confessing these stories or episodes is important, and it gives the reader a look-see into this guy that you only see from one point of view."
Asked if he has any regrets about sharing some of his stories with the world, his friends, his family and bandmates, Halford said: "That's a really great question. When I was sitting with [co-writer] Ian [Gittins, who also co-wrote The New York Times bestseller 'The Heroin Diaries' by Nikki Sixx], I was very open and honest. It just flows out of me. Being clean and sober for 30 years, I don't lie anymore, nor do I hold anything back. I like people to be the same towards me.
"I don't doubt for one minute that some people will be shocked by what's in 'Confess'. This is my life, and me telling you all the important parts of it. It's up to you to decide how to interrupt and utilize it.

I hope this book is good! But knowing how private Halford is, it will probably gloss over most of the controversies and good stuff like Bruce Dickinson did. I just hope this doesn’t end up being a glorified lecture on his liberal views.

I will have to read the reviews posted here afterwards on this one. I will say H. O. M people downed Lita Ford’s book. Bought it cheap. And really enjoyed it. Not easy for a musician to step out and remember things. My biggest disappointment in a Metal book was Ron Keel “ Even Keel “ though.

I'll be getting it soon as I can. Not in a huge hurry though since I'm a half book deep in a trilogy right now.

I dunno about any "glorified lectures" but it looks like we can look forward to a few T.M.I. stories like this one:

So anyone buy this or read it yet? I just ordered a copy from Barnes and Noble tonight. Had a gift card to use up, so basically got it for free. They had signed copies for thirty bucks at one point, but we're sold out. Looking forward to reading it, hope it's good. I liked KK Downings book, I'm sure Robs will be equally good if not better.

I haven't yet but my brother read it and sez it was a good read. I'm hoping he will let me borrow his copy next time I see him.

I have KK's book, that's probably all I need to know about Priest behind the scenes. I don't need to know the public toilet stories.

Interesting thing to throw in here: turns out Rob's not speaking with Eddie Trunk and has beef with the dude. Apparently Trunk said something on his show that pissed Rob off and it's been radio silence ever since before Firepower hit shelves. Thus there's been zero promotion from Rob on Trunk's show for that album or his book.

I wonder what Eddie said that pissed on Halford? Rob had previously liked the Trunk before and wrote the forward to one of his books.

I read that the beef stems from Trunk saying something on his show about Priest being "a tribute band" now that theres no K.K. or Glenn.

He’s kinda right... with Glenn no longer performing at full capacity and KK out, it’s basically a tribute. But it’s still good!

Who the hell does Eddie Trunk think he is ? Sure, he raps about metal....but he’s a nerd. He sounds like Rush Libraugh. Cold. Calculated. Is he a 80s poser musician who never made it ? Heard him a few times. No way could I take - his take on things.

I used to like his show That Metal Show on VHS. Not because he was so good at it, but because it was the only show on that featured metal artists I liked. I felt he was a pompous asshole and for the most part only talked about mainstream music, but it was better than nothing. Jim Florentine and the other guy were better than Trunk, but it was his deal.
Far as Priest being a tribute band now, I think it's a slap in the face to Halford and very disrespectful. I'm on the fence myself, but I have never met Rob Halford and have no influence over his fans like Eddie Trunk does. For him to call Rob his friend and then say that, I don't blame Halford for cutting him off.

I’m checking out the audio book for free on Audible. It’s a trial subscription, and I get to keep it when I cancel. I even have the option to exchange it for another book!

Borrowed my brother's copy of Confess and I'm about 100 pages in -- they just finished the Sad Wings of Destiny tour. Lots of good stories thus far.

My copy arrived a couple of days ago. I haven't started it yet. I'm finishing another book. As soon as I'm through with it, I'll start on Confess.

Finished Rob's book yesterday. Excellent read, surprisingly funny in spots and way more upbeat than KK's "woe is me" book, in spite of some of the dark places Rob has been to in his life.
Some of the details of his, errr, let's just call them "extra-curricular activities" are definitely not for the faint of heart though, so be warned.
Definitely one of the better rock/metal memoirs I've read of late.

I used my Amazon credit to get the audiobook for free.
I'll start listening to it on my commutes. Rob Halford reads it himself so that's something.
