| I only have two.
But experts recommend you have one more litter box than you have cats so I have three litter boxes. And one of my cats (Loosie) is a Maine Coon which means she's huge (about 14 pounds right now) so she needs a BIG litter box. And while Squirrel is literally half of Loosie's size, he likes to throw litter around when he's in there so I need a large litter box for him as well so most of what he throws stays in the box.
Bottom line, I have 3 litter boxes that I normally fill with a 10 pound bag of litter every week so that's 30 pounds a week. So when I saw what looked to be a cat litter shortage, I stocked up.
Hell, like I said before, I could make do without toilet paper before I have to go without cat litter. Most of my five senses are or have always been shot to hell but the one sense I have that's still acute is the sense of smell.
EDIT: And here's an interesting fact that should blow your mind: After today's "haul" I'm currently sitting on 300lbs of cat litter in my garage. I've got two internet orders expected to be delivered next week that total another 150 lbs. And I've still got two orders from other sites that haven't shipped yet totaling another 70 pounds.
So all that means if I didn't use any more cat litter before the latest expected delivery date of my internet orders, when all is said and done I'd have 520 lbs of cat litter in my garage. Of course I'll probably use at least 90 pounds before the rest of my stuff gets here but I never would have believed I'd order over a quarter ton of cat litter in one week; no way, that's just nuts. Except in these times it's not nuts. Although I did space all my litter purchases out over multiple days and multiple suppliers (i.e., I didn't raid one place and just wipe out their supply) like I said before, I'm not going to mock people hoarding toilet paper anymore.
Edit 2: One other thing I should mention for those who don't know, when you or I run out of our favorite brand of toilet paper we can make do with whatever brand we can find. Sure it might not be as "soft" as what we're used to but we can just tough it out. Cats? Not so much. If you try changing the brand or style of cat litter a cat is used to feeling in its litter box, you run the risk of the cat finding "other outlets" for their "excretory functions". So do I want to run the risk of one of my cats pooping or (way worse) urinating outside a litter box? Uh, no. Hence my panic. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Curfew officially declared last night. Everyone must remain indoors between 19:00 and 5:00.
Outside of these hours, people will have to provide the police with valid reasons for leaving their homes. And it is definitely limited to urgent matters.
This is the third world war. Only this time it is unconventional.

| Wow Toho, that is a shit load of cat litter lol I was at a Walgreen pharmacy yesterday, and they had full shelves full. I remember reading one of these posts and thought about grabbing some, but decided not to. Now you got me second guessing my decision. Oh well, if we run out, our cat will just have to become an outdoor cat again.
Gilbert, where did you read that about curfew? What state is it being enforced?

I hope you guys won't reach this stage. We will. It's already begun. I now have a letter I am required to have in my car stating that my job is essential, and that I am allowed to be out whenever blah blah blah. My state isn't even hit hard get, but there are people demanding we shut down and self quarantine. Only a matter of time they start talking about curfews and shit.

| It's not; thermometers are this week's toilet paper.
I work with a guy in his 70s who has diabetes and emphysema so he's in the extreme high-risk group and he's been trying to find a thermometer for 2 weeks. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I wonder if there is a way to donate extra ones. We have one that we use regularly for our kids, but we have 2 or 3 extra ones that we bought when our younger son was a baby, trying to figure out which one we liked the best.

I can't sat that I blame people for panicking right now, the politicians clearly don't have a clue what they are doing. They should make sure that thermometers are available for the most vulnerable but they also should have been producing them in huge numbers, they have know about this for almost three months. The Prime Minister, the health minister and the chief medical officer have all tested positive in the U.K These are the people who have approved the guidance for keeping us safe and they can't even prevent themselves from getting infected! I get my temperature taken every day that I'm at work (it's now compulsory for entering the building) so that's enough but if I didn't I would probably be looking for a thermometer as well. This is no longer blind panic for no reason, the threat is very real. Particularly for those who have to go out.

| Oh I'm not saying the threat isn't real but I'm convinced some people who already have a thermometer are just buying another one or two "just to be safe". Just like the TP issue; "I only have three month's worth on hand so I better get another month's worth - just to be safe." _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I only have one thermometer but I know several families who have several. I guess a "used" thermometer is kind of a disgusting thought but if you have something to sterilize it with and you need one, why not? _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Regan's show was suspended after she said the "Coronavirus Impeachment Scam" was intended to create "mass hysteria" and "demonise and destroy the president" So when are they sacking Trump, he said the same thing?

| You know what just dawned on me today? Watch your local news outlets. They don't have makeup or hair stylists anymore so not only are most of them getting pretty weird hair but unless they or their significant others do their makeup, they appear on camera as their "real selves". I noticed it when one of our local sport reporters did a live remote and his hair looked like something from the 80s.
It's trivial but it's kind of amusing to notice. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

"Covidiots"!!!! I think that they should be called Prisoner # 368567! Went back to work today to find that one of my team is in hospital with a confirmed case with 15 others either with symptoms or living with someone with symptoms (I only have 70 people in my team!). So it's safe to say that I'm not feeling these 'hilarious' pranks.
