This here's about the NBA referee scandal of 2007, but this part backs up my earlier story...

Quote :
On June 10, 2008, Donaghy's attorney filed a court document alleging, among other things, that Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings was fixed by two referees.

The letter states that Donaghy "learned from Referee A that Referees A and F wanted to extend the series to seven games. Tim knew Referees A and F to be 'company men', always acting in the interest of the NBA, and that night, it was in the NBA's interest to add another game to the series."[37] The Lakers won Game 6, attempting 18 more free throws than the Kings in the fourth quarter, and went on to win the 2002 NBA Finals.

The teams were not named, but the Western Conference Finals was the only seven-game series that year.[38] The document claimed that Donaghy told federal agents that to increase television ratings and ticket sales, "top executives of the NBA sought to manipulate games using referees".[37] It also said that NBA officials would tell referees to not call technical fouls on certain players, and states that a referee was privately reprimanded by the league for ejecting a star player in the first quarter of a January 2000 game.[37] Stern denied the accusations, calling Donaghy a "singing, cooperating witness".[38]

Now granted, it doesn't say explicitly that folks were paid-off to rig games, but behind closed doors, things are said and done in the interest of the league and the tv networks to tip things in their favor. I think it would be naive to think this doesn't go on in other sports.

I think basketball is very easy to rig. Far fewer moving parts than football. I am certainly not arguing that no sports has ever been rigged.

I get the logic WF, but NFl games an be "rigged" easily I would believe. Just get the officials pulling calls for certain teams, sure this may not guarantee a W for that team but more oft then not if enough critical calls go your teams way a win will be in order.

So having a handful of officials botch a few calls seems a small group.

Per happenstance you reel in a couple players, like that numbnuts defensive lineman for KC who lined up a yard in the neutral zone on a CRITICAL play and viola, game outcome changed.

Sure I ain't got any proof, but I can't fathom that SOME elements CAN'T be manipulated to favor an outcome.

Just my 2 cents and after years and years of watching it certainly seems as if something stinks.

Is it because Brady got caught cheating? Or just fed up in general like me?

Martinsane, people like witchfinder will believe what they want to believe. I mean he claimed billions of dollars aren't an incentive for billionaires to scam people.

So, for 40 years, I watched this trash religiously. I couldn't predict anything right because I thought it was an actual competition.

But in my first year of believing the NFL is rigged, I predicted the Super Bowl winner before the playoffs correctly and won 500 dollars in the process?

Hmm.

Here's how I picked the winner without watching any NFL football the whole season. I found out....

Bear Bryant and Nick Saban won 6 championships . Both won their 6th when they were 66 years old.

Bellicheat is 66.

Every decade 1 team win 3 SBs.

Pitt 70s
SF 80s
Dall 90s
Pats 00s
Pats 10s (This was the last chance for the Rigtriots to get 3 this decade)

The NFL is 99 years old, Bellicheat 66, McVay is 33

So what happened?

The score was 13-3 clinched by NE's kicker wearing number 3. With the longest punt in SB history happening. By a punter wearing number 6.

It's rigged, metalheads. Somebody is toying with us.

Any sport can be easily rigged. Throwing games and boxing matches is well known... but the “numbers” thing is creepy. Mason tampering is highly probable.

Yep. If you're a thinkng man, I think those numbers PROVE freemason tampering.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Brady is a 33rd degree mason. The higher the rank, the bigger the perks.

You can see the influence everywhere. Keep an eye (pun not intended) on all big name sports stars. You can see they all use the same hand gestures frequently.  👌

All that just to predict who would win? I predicted who would win also, because the cheating patriots were playing. I haven't watched a game since week two, so do I get five hundred dollars? How much did you have to bet to win that anyways? $50,000.00?

"All that to predict who will win the Super Bowl."

Yes, that's called research. It's always good to have points to back up your opinion.

And how can you predict the Pats will win, just because they are in the playoffs? The cheating Pats don't win every year they are in the playoffs. Hmmmmmmmm

100 dollars at 5 - 1 odds. You get better odds betting before the playoffs start. And no, you don't get 500 dollars.

Go ahead and ignore those numbers though. You'll sleep better.

I doubt you got 5-1 odds if you bet before the playoffs. Maybe 5-1 odds if you bet before the season. But who knows, I couldn't actually care less if you won five gazillion dollars.

Peace be unto you and yours oh wise and noble sir.

Sorry for the late reply, wrecked. It started for me around spygate. Then deflategate. Then Ray Rice was the last straw. When the Adrian Petersen thing happened, I was glad I was long gone. All the bullshit with "pink" in October is to lure female viewers (as we all know) and not because they actually care about breast cancer. The same with the Veterans that are "honored" at halftime or before the game. The military pays for that but the shield pretends they are being purely altruistic. It's pathetic. Add in boring games with 200 hours of the same commercials for Bud Light and Ram trucks; terrible announcers who have said the same "commentary" for decades; and the literal clown of a commissioner, and I was done.

Wow.

This thread is a lot more interesting than ANYTHING I've seen in the NFL lately.

Hell, since Kroenke packed up and moved the Rams back to LA, I haven't even really even followed the NFL except on NFL Red Zone.

In fact, I'm so proud of the fact that I did NOT watch one single second of this year's Super Bowl; mainly because it featured 2 teams I HATE.

Yeah I hear ya, and your complaints are pretty much mine as well. Just too much crap involved with the game, the rules changing every five minutes was my last straw. baseball gets to me too sometimes, but it's mostly the announcers I get annoyed with. When that happens I turn off the sound and put on some music. I can enjoy it much better that way.

It’s not even about the sports anymore. It’s all just advertising and social engineering for political causes.

It's ok.  You still have a choice where men are men, without scandal [for the most part], and the action is without peer.

I really wish I could get into the NHL.  It's everything I love in a sport; hard-hitting, violent, scoring, athleticism (they're playing on friggin' ice!) but unfortunately I just can't follow the puck due to my pathetic eyesight.
