| I’ve been considering it - too many CD duds - sitting around. I haven’t really listened to these CDs in three / four years. Has anyone done this - did you re-buy them - lol Why ? So as to have - a genuine quality Metal selection ! I know, sounds blasphemous ! | |

| If there is nothing wrong with them, other than you just don't like them, then I would give them a new home at a donation center or local library. Like the old saying goes about "one man's trash..." you don't know if someone might really enjoy them. I have only tossed a disc that no longer worked. I had to get rid of about 2 dozen tray cards and liner notes after the bottom row of my rack was water damaged years ago in a flood, but that's it. | |

| I do the "kick down" thing, go to work, the gym, or on a bike run and had someone a CD and say, "check this out". If they dig it, I tell them to keep it. If not, I tell them to kick it down to someone else. _________________ | |

| If they're in good shape, why don'cha put'em up for trade in the Metal Market section here? Maybe you can swap 'em for something better.
I will probably be posting a trade list there sometime soon, I have been slowly culilng the herd (so to speak) over the past six months or so and have a pretty decent size pile of stuff I won't miss. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

By this do you mean they are physically damaged? Then yes, I'd probably buy another copy if I Iike it. Don't give them away. It's trash. You can use the booklet or back cover for decorating your man cave.

| Well I gave away all my records and threw away most of my cassette tapes and have been kicking myself ever since. So I strongly urge against it. However, I would look them up on discogs first. You never know if they might be worth something. My issue of the Master of Puppets CD I own has sold for over a hundred dollars. It's nothing special, just a run of the mill CD I bought way back when, but it happens to be some sort of rare CD. Can't remember why it's rare, but it blew me away when I saw it. Lots of other run of the mill cds I own were thirty, to fifty bucks, so ya never know.
I feel your pain though. I have a box of duds I never listen to anymore. I will look them up one of these days and keep them. If I ever need the money I'll sell them off in lots on ebay or something.

| Long ago, i got rid of tens of cds which i thought were nothing but fillers, only to regret it a year later. I proceeded to rebuy all of these albums since.
So make sure you will not regret your decision...

| I have thrown a few cd's myself. Metallica's S/T flew high and far from a 6th story window. Another time I was driving down the freeway and had just boughten Living Sacrifice's album The Hammering Process. I got through scanning the whole CD and tossed that garbage right out the window as well! | |

BTW 'High Voltage' rules!

BTW 'High Voltage' rules! Same here. Now. Like most here I've been burned by the "Eh, this CD sucks so I'm getting rid of it" mentality before too. But I always sold 'em; I've never just pitched a CD unless it was defective. Plus after looking up a bunch of stuff on Ebay I realized I have a backup retirement plan in my basement. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Another time I was driving down the freeway and had just boughten Living Sacrifice's album The Hammering Process. I got through scanning the whole CD and tossed that garbage right out the window as well! Haha! I did the same thing after I made a blind purchase on Volbeat. Kept hearing how great they were, bought a cd at a local record store, popped it in the car stereo and made it about half way home before I threw it out the window.

| So now I guess I know the origins of those smashed CD pieces I occasionally see when I'm walking around the neighborhood; I've always been curious about how a CD got into the street so it could be run over multiple times.
I don't think I have any candidates for that fate. But if I had been dumb enough to "blindly" purchase something like Dave Matthews Band I guess I might pitch one out the window too. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Selling them is much better, because I'm sure someone somewhere would like having it. Take it to a used goods store if you don't know someone who wants it. | |

| I am in the range of about 3,500 titles in my collection. And of those, there are probably an easy 100-150 or so that I just don't see myself listening to ever again. But, a lot of them are collection fillers (the shittiest album from a fave like Kiss, Ozzy, or Dokken) that I know it would bug me if there were now a hole in the discography; while some others are just "duds" like Glower said, that I just don't listen to. I have thought of selling or trading them here or on the bay, but I feel as though the CD has become so devalued over the course of the last decade (Amazon;s low prices, stores not selling them any longer, the rise of vinyl sales) that I wouldn't get shit for them either in trade or money wise. | |

That's about what I have in the Toho Vault and honestly I don't listen to more than a dozen or so anymore. But I also know there's stuff in the collection that regularly goes for lots of $$$ on Ebay and/or Amazon so if I ever decide to downsize I'm going to do a lot of research before getting rid of stuff. I've been burned before by NOT doing that; never again. Bottom line: NEVER throw away CDs before at least checking Ebay to see if they're worth anything. And even then, check how much you could get trading them in at a local "Ma and Pa" record shop. You'll get more in store credit than they'll give you in cash but either way nets you more than just throwing them away. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| The only way I would throw away a CD is if it was damaged somehow. Just because you personally don’t like an album doesn’t mean someone else wouldn’t enjoy it. Sell it or trade. | |

| I have a few space fillers to complete a discography, but usually I like at least a song or two. I would suppose those greatest hits album I own, could be considered unessential, but I like them too. I have rarely thrown out a cd. | |
