So, 2018 was an amazing year for metal. Lots of releases by our favourite bands. What does your top 5/10/15...(whatever) list look like?

I haven't really thought of a ranking yet, but Powerwolf's "The Sacrament of Sin" probably takes first place. Judas Priest and Impellitteri also had great releases. Then there's Axxis with Monster Hero, maybe at #4.

So that's 4, and I only bought 8 new releases. So those would be the ones I liked the most.

I am surprised not to see Riot V in any of these lists  .

When I make my Top 10 albums of 2018 video, Riot V's newest album, Armor of Light, has been promised an appearance on the list.

My camera only lets me film for 10 minutes, and when I started making them, I included 10. I'll probably name a few honorable mentions towards the end of it; I have acquired about 20 or so albums at least that received initial release in 2018, including a couple I ordered late in the year that have not yet arrived.

Of the 27 new releases I purchased in 2018, only these 7 made an impact and garnered repeated spins...

In no particular order:

Dee Snider - For the Love of Metal
'77 - Bright Gloom
Judas Priest - Firepower
Orange Goblin - The Wolf Bites Back
Phil Campbell and the B*stard Sons - The Age of Absurdity
Stone Temple Pilots - 2018 s/t
Monster Magnet - Mindf*cker

Disappointments of 2018...
Slash - Living the Dream (boring modern radio-friendly rock)
Joe Perry - Sweetzerland Manifesto (just a mess)

The remaining 18 purchases I made aren't necessarily bad albums, but they just didn't stand out much or have anything too memorable that made me want to come back to them. More spins could remedy that. Or they could be boring. Time will tell.
