I was listening to a controversial guy - talk recently - I think it was on coast to coast am - radio - being interviewed - wrote a book And the side topic came up - how will the people know ? He said ‘books’ - that particular radio show - Then he said ‘music’ - and named off - three bands - Gamma Ray - Agent Steel - Kreator ( Germany ) Does anyone agree with this..... And what CDs would you suggest by these three bands ?

What is this?
Controversial in what way?
I just watched my Gamma Ray DVD last night. Great band. My favourite albums are Land of the Free and Power Plant. Not sure if I missed the point of the topic. I don't think there is a book about Kai Hansen or Gamma Ray...

That these bands talk about the Goverment - controversies - within their music - Behind the political scenes - classified information - beware ‘hints’ - lyrics - that sort of thing - maybe it’s not true - I’m not sure - maybe their just average bands - singing about chicks and drinking....

For me, when I think controversial metal, I think of NSBM

There was a a thread around here years ago about a white-power "true metal" band called Battlecry, where we mainly laughed at their no-budget music videos and the singer's mullet.

That's what came to mind when I saw the title of this thread.

None of those bands listed are very controversial. Sounds like the guy you were listening to has a few screws loose. But you asked for what albums to get by those 3 bands...

Yeah, I guess I am missing how those three bands would be controversial b/c of their "takes" on Politics, Government, or Religion. The Mentors was the first band that came to mind, or really anyone singing about taboo subjects and/ or intentionally trying to be shocking.
The best albums from the three bands you mentioned (my faves)
Gamma Ray - Land of the Free (Powerplant a close second) Kreator - Extreme Aggression Agent Steel - Skeptics Apocalypse

I've always been more partial to Unstoppable Force by Agent Steel but Skeptics is a close second.
