| Both are great instrumentals that feature great riffs and killer drum solos. I have to say Moby Dick has the better guitar but Rat Salad has better drums. | |

| The studio version of Moby Dick is kind of boring to me, but the live version on Song Remains the Same is outstanding. That said, going off studio release I have to pick Rat Salad. Love the drums in that song, and it has a better riff IMO. | |

| Moby Richard. I knew that one long before I heard 'Rat Salad', so it wins by default. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Did Sabbath ever do any live versions of Rat Salad with the drum section extended to 20+ minutes like Zeppelin's "Moby Dick"? Honest question, as I've never listened to any Sabbath bootlegs from that era. I usually skip the the extend versions of Moby Dick whenever I listen to live Zeppelin these days, but that is one bombastic song. | |

| Moby Dick. I cant believe Rat Salad is winning this poll ? That opening guitar riff for Moby Dick - come on ! That's like Whole Lotta Love riff - and the concert drum solo live - is right up there with 100,000 years ! " Moby Dick dick dick dick " Even the Song Remains Same movie clip is cool - New York City ! Sold out shows ! That's how it's done. I play that video / song to all aspiring musicians -
