Your favorite Aria album?

I would say Hero of Asphalt is their best, followed by Blood for Blood, with Whom Are You With? coming in third.

Who is Aria?

They are a Russian metal band, one of the most famous metal bands in Russia. They are not as well known in North America because they don't play outside of Russia very often. They started out very much in the NWOBHM vein (their second album, Whom Are You With?, is a Russian album made in 1986, yet listening to it, you'd think you were listening to an NWOBHM album from 1982), then went for a more Dickinson-era Maiden approach, especially on 1987's Hero of Asphalt (which seems to be their most popular album as well).

Actually, never heard of them, but from your description, sounds promising. Do they sing in English or Russian?

They sing entirely in Russian, although I did see a clip of them on YouTube singing an English version of "Street of Roses" (off of Hero of Asphalt).

KROWJ SA KROWJ(BLOOD FOR BLOOD) is my fave album by this band but i like them all till this album(have them on vinyls).
Love APUST/ARIJA/ARIA very much. Together with MASTER(first 4 lps are great), KORROSIJA METALLA(specialy first albums), FORMULA 1, HELLRAISER, KRUIZ, and SHAH, my fave band from Russia from the 80s beginning of the 90s. Dont care much about bands of today from that country because they try to sound like many german and italian bands. Before they had their own sound and attitude.

I just watched a "Metal School" YouTube video about this band. I've heard their name over the years (they're often described as the "Russian Iron Maiden") but had never heard any of their stuff. I imagine few, if any, of their albums are easy to find outside of their home land.

Some of the clips in that video sounded pretty good but honestly, I've never been able to truly get whole-hog into bands that sing in other languages. I guess I like to sing along too much and I can't do that if I don't speak the language...
