Let's not forget, Tobias Sammet knows his way around a keyboard as well. And even though they are not metal, Kerry Livgren, Steve Walsh, and Neal Morse rank as some of my favorites as well. I also was a fan of Faith No More keyboardist, Roddy Bottum (even if he was a flaming poof).

Speaking of non-metal keyboardists, there is hardly none greater than Vince Clarke, Martin Gore and Alan Wilder.
Depeche Mode might not be metal, but they use their keyboards in much the same way a metal band uses guitars.

I must admit I only have and heard one Royal Hunt album, Paradox. But it is one of my favortie albums of all time. There is not one song on that album that I don't LOVE, and the keyboard work on it is some of the best I've heard out of all progressive/power metal (Dream Theater not included).
If you love Paradox, check out the rest of them too. They are all good.
