for a long time i shrugged this guy off as just a one hit wonder who written Hulk Hogan's and Demolition's theme songs and who played with Edgar Winter and nothing more. but recently i ended up blindly coming across the Blue Sky Albums 76-78 Box Set that was released recently and read that Vinny Appicie was the drummer, which interested me. but then i checked out the song "Sweet Evil" off the album of the same name and was blown away at how dark, melodic and heavy it was. definitely gave me Sin After Sin/Stained Class era Judas Priest vibes. so it made me want to buy the box set and which i did and just ended up digging the albums. which sadly only panned to about two studio albums and two live albums (which are also pretty good). but the album that is If I Weren't So Romantic, I'd Shoot You is pretty much just a Rick Derringer solo album than a real Derringer album. without Vinny, Danny and Kenny, it ain't really Derringer.
anyways. any fans of his stuff with this band?. i don't see this stuff here get any talk at all. especially when talking about Vinny Appice's early works before joining Black Sabbath and Dio.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I hear what you are talking about around 4:10. Good sound, never expected something like this from Rick.

Excellent albums. Rick is criminally underrated, you hardly ever hear him mentioned when people talk about great rock from the 70's.

He also did Hulk Hogan's theme song in the 1980s.

Yeah, I am a big fan. Saw them open for Aerosmih on two occasions & both shows opening for Zep. But, Vinnie & Danny had left the band I heard a week before the Zep shows in Oakland.
Neil "Spyder" Giraldo was on guitar & Myron Grombacher was on drums. This guy was like Keith Moon, All over the place, Awesome! Yes they did the guitar toss across stage. They kicked ass!
I have all three records on lp & cd. the Two studio & the live record.
Here is a cool track! I love the couple of songs 18 year old Danny Johnson wrote & sang also. Danny is still with Steppenwolf, What 20 + years.

I had " Guitars and Women " album - loved it for three decades now ( CD ) Some great romantic rock ballads composed on that one too. I WAS surprised in Aerosmith's " Walk This Way " he was mentioned a few times .... Tyler and him would smoke pot and sit around in N.Y with chicks and talk music. I have been on Ebay and have always considered purchasing his CD's..... but then another heavier band always wins out ! Denner and Shermann release " Angels Blood " I mean even the art work looks like Don't Break The Oath !! so....umm....Derringer takes a backseat again lol
