I'd call them female fronted gothic power metal. If you like stuff like Nightwish, you'd probably dig them. |

Symphonic metal would be more accurate, I think. I don't hear power metal. Also, he may not be as pretty, but there is a death metal growler. Haha. |

- The new Epica is indeed the same way. Both cds are quite good, but you have to work at getting into them.
I actually like the new Epica better, but both are good listens IMO.

Within Temptation's new one is a lot more catchier than Epica's and After Forever's for sure (listened to it for the fourth time last night). However, symphonic wise I prefer the latter two (they have the better composers IMO, although not near as good as Nightwish's Tuomas Holopainen or Rhapsody's Luca Turilli and Alex Starpoli). Also while Sharon den Adel has a pretty voice, I like the voices of Simone Simons and Floor Jansen WAY more.

| I really love the vocals of all three: Sharon Simone and Floor almost equally. They are all good - and I think I do prefer Sharon a smidgeon more than the other two. It all depends on the day. Some days I prefer either three of them. They are all three faves for me. |
