New album by Sabaton going to drop this August!
1."Sparta" (Battle of Thermopylae)
2."Last Dying Breath" (Dragutin Gavrilović)
3."Blood of Bannockburn" (The Battle of Bannockburn was a significant Scottish victory in the First War of Scottish Independence, and a landmark in Scottish history. Stirling Castle, a Scots royal fortress, occupied by the English, was under siege by the Scottish army.)
4."Diary of an Unknown Soldier" (Meuse-Argonne Offensive)
5."The Lost Battalion" (is name given to nine companies of the United States 77th Division, roughly 554 men, isolated by German forces during World War I after an American attack in the Argonne Forest in October 1918. Roughly 197 were killed in action and approximately 150 missing or taken prisoner before 194 remaining men were rescued.)
6."Rorke's Drift" (Battle of Rorke's Drift just over 150 British troops successfully defended the garrison against an intense assault by 3,000 to 4,000 Zulu warrior. The massive but Zulu attacks on Rorke's Drift came very close to defeating the tiny garrison but were ultimately repelled. Eleven Victoria Crosses were awarded to the defenders, along with a number of other decorations and honours.)
7."The Last Stand" ( The Stand of the Swiss Guard took place during the sacking of Rome on May 6, 1527, when the Pope's Swiss guards held off troops loyal to the Habsburgs long enough for Pope Clement to escape.)
8."Hill 3234" (The Battle for Hill 3234 was a successful defensive battle fought by the 345th Independent Guards Airborne Regiment, Soviet Airborne Troops, in Afghanistan against a force of 200 to 250 Mujahideen rebels.)
9."Shiroyama" (The Battle of Shiroyama took place on 24 September 1877, in Kagoshima, Japan. It was the final battle of the Satsuma Rebellion, where the heavily outnumbered samurai under Saigō Takamori made their last stand against the Imperial Japanese army. )
10."Winged Hussars" (The Winged Hussars' finest hour came during the epic Battle of Vienna in 1683, when the Ottoman Turkish armies were marching across Eastern Europe looking to conquer all of Christendom. With the main body of the Holy Roman Imperial army completely surrounded and besieged by over 200,000 Turkish warriors, Polish King Jan Sobieski led the single hugest and Calvary charge. Three thousand Winged Hussars plowed into the Turkish force)
11."The Last Battle" (The Battle for Castle Itter in the Austrian North Tyrol village of Itter was fought on 5 May 1945, in the last days of the European Theater of World War II. Troops of the 23rd Tank Battalion of the 12th Armored Division of the US XXI Corps led by Captain John C. "Jack" Lee, Jr., a number of Wehrmacht soldiers, and recently freed French VIPs defended Castle Itter against an attacking force from the 17th SS Panzergrenadier Division until relief from the American 142nd Infantry Regiment of the 36th Division of XXI Corps arrived. The French prisoners included former prime ministers, generals and a tennis star. It may have been the only battle in the war in which Americans and Germans fought side-by-side. Popular accounts of the battle have called it the "strangest" battle of World War II.)
12."Camouflage" (Bonus Track) 13."All Guns Blazing (Judas Priest Cover)" (Bonus Track) 14."Afraid To Shoot Strangers (Iron Maiden Cover)" (Bonus Track)

Cool. I got into these guys back in 2014 and I have yet to be disappointed with the few albums I own.

Yeah, never managed to stomach those vocals either. Plus I really dislike war-themed albums, and those guys seem eternally obsessed with WWII...

Because of the scale of World War II, there are a lot of things that can be sung about, and they're all fairly well-documented, which does make it easier. But on this album, it does appear as though only one song deals with that war - The Last Battle.

Yah, this is all about last stands as you can see. I'm really looking forward to that song just because it's such a unique battle but also Rorke's drift and the winged hussars.

I wasn't really stoked with "Heroes," so I'm not sure if I'll be jumping on this one either.
Granted, "Carolus Rex" was such a top notch album from cover to cover that I don't know if they were ever going to be able to easily beat it.

This might be their best one yet. Their songwriting is fantastic. And I for one LOVE the vocals. Interesting. I like how he rolls his Rs.

This one took a little time but grew on me. My fave will always be Attero Dominatus but I enjoy all their albums.

Gilbert & Stormspell nicely summed up why I also don't like Sabaton.

Do you like Civil War? It is old Sabaton with a different singer.
