I put together a dozen slices (literally) of early/proto-metal albums for you to guess. Dates range from 1968 to 1974. Have at it.

Wow. This one is really out of my area. Not one of those look familiar. #3 reminds me of Uncle Fester!

007...I should make a Spotify playlist or something when this is done then because these bands made some fantastic tunes that were heavier than pretty much everything else of their era. I think I'll add some YouTube links as they are guessed. Stuff like this...these guys never cut an album but they rocked pretty hard for 1971.

Atomic Rooster - Death Walks Behind You, is in there. I have to go to class now but there's more in there I recognize.

#4 is Dust - Hard Attack #8 is Leaf Hound, not sure of the album name though.

Featuring the future Ramone, Marky. This song is so great.

Yea, I picked up their re-issue a few years ago. It's a bit of a stretch to call them proto-metal, but it's a decent album nonetheless.
The only reason I recognized the Leaf Hound album is because Amazon would constantly recommend that to me based on my other purchases. Maybe I need to give them a listen?

Oooh, Synthfreek, you've outdone yourself on this one. That "vertical slice" format is just....evil!
The few from this batch that I recognize (Dust and Budgie) have already been mentioned... tho I also know that Atomic Rooster artwork (from a painting by William Blake, if memory serves) because it's also the back-tray pic in Bruce Dickinson's Chemical Wedding CD.

#7 looks vaguely familiar, but I can't seem to place it.

Yeah it is Blake. His style was so cool. I've always really loved the painting "God as an Architect," which is a depiction of Urizen (who's referenced in the Chemical Wedding). It's like it's begging to be a metal album cover.

More an influence on metal lyrics than musical content.

Ooh ooh! Waitaminnit, I think I got #11! Isn't that "Coven" (the female fronted 70s band, not the 80s thrash band)? I think the album title is "Witchcraft" something or other.

2 is Blue Cheer - Outsideinside.
And 5 is stumping me. It looks sort of like Yes' Relayer, but that's the wrong genre and the logo seems to be more prominent on this one than on Relayer.
