So it's V-day and you decide to make a mixtape for your SO (or dream SO if you're single). What would the list be? Here's what I made in Spotify for my wife:

Be honest dude, you knew this would happen.
But in keeping with the romantic spirit, one song, the most heartfelt love song I've ever heard from a metal guy

For Valentine's, I went to see Rage and Helloween while my SO stayed home and watched the baby.

My spirit is crushed, my soul a void.

Oh yeah, I've got a million of these. Off the top of my head:
Wicked Bitch - Black N Blue Love Stinks - J. Geils Band She's a Bitch - Lord Tracy Sticky Little Bitch - The Angels
And of course, the all-time best anti-love song:

Couldn't have been a better Valentine's Day for a huge Helloween and Rage fan No worries, I have enough time to spend with my wife.

Yes, and very romantic. During "Forever and One" I sent a WhatsApp message saying "I wish you were here".
Sorry to have derailed the topic, but it was already heading that way from the first reply.
I do hope someone has a serious well thought out reply to the original topic.

Here's one that i dont see listed much in love song lists, Im Leaving You by the Scorpions. Its not what it sounds like, its actually about a guy leaving for a trip but he promises to return to his lover. Kind of simplistic, but i kind of find it sweet, and its a killer song to boot (just ignore the dodgy video with the women's softball team).

I made my wife a mix-tape-on-CD, wherein I put together the lost soundtrack to the faux lost sequel to Valley Girl (Valley Girl, Too).
Bunch of jams either very much in line with the vibe of the original soundtrack or other songs by some of the actual artists from the original.
So stuff from Depeche Mode, The Cure, Julie Brown, Missing Persons, Transvision Vamp, Tracey Ullman, The Flirts, Josie Cotton, Jane Wiedlin, etc.
It was awesome. Fer sure.

I would've suggested Warrant's "Cherry Pie". That song was the first that came to mind as a Valentine's Day song.

This was fun to drive through the town with - snow everywhere - streets barren - 9am - over and over - it was perfect to be in the middle of.

The last "mix tape" (cdr) I made was for my wife back when we got engaged, about 13 or so years ago. I remember I had to make it at work because I didn't own a burner and had to bring in all these cds to rip songs from. I know it's still floating around somewhere. If I find it, I'll post the track listing.
