We took the kids to see 'Zootopia' last night. Entertaining enough. The kids loved it. I thought the whole anti-bulling message and "everyone loves everyone" was a little heavy handed, but otherwise funny.
It was my first time in one of those newly renovated theaters with fancy reclining seats, so I did fall asleep for 20 -30 minutes or so.

Finally watched Pineapple Express today; only a few years late. It was f*cking hilarious.
And then I watched Mulholland Drive, which left a completely different impression, lol. What a mindbending movie. I spent the two minutes of the credits blankly staring with my mouth agape at my computer screen, haha.

A team of medical researchers are investigating incidents of cannibalism in a New York City hospital. Eventually they end up on the tropical island that's home to the tribe of flesh eaters, and encounter a crazed doctor whose unauthorized surgical experiments on the natives have created a race of zombies. This cult Italian fiesta of gory, random gut munching flesh ripping nonsense has no social redeeming value whatsoever, but it's still entertaining as hell in a "WTF?" car-crash sort of way.
(There ya go, toho. I watched/reviewed a crappy horror movie. Ya happy now? )

I think I've seen that one under the Dr. Butcher MD title but I can't remember a thing about it other than it involved zombies.
I was just reading some more about the movie on IMdb and in the "Goofs" section they had this:
Quote :
Goofs
When the orderly dives through the hospital window, his stunt-dummy's arm snaps off as it hits the ground
And one of the reviews has this title"
Doctor Butcher, Monkey Dung

Yep, the "dummy fail" from this flick is apparently semi-legend in bad movie circles. Haha
They could've at least tried to roll with it and shot the next scene w/ the guy's arm tucked under him out of view, but nope - when they run outside and he's laying on the ground you can see both his arms!

Batman V Superman. Decent flick, much better than man of steel

The critics are being brutal to that movie. It's got a 30% rating at RottenTomatoes.
I was thinking about seeing it since I've become such a big fan of the "Gotham" TV show but the reviews scared me off.

Most of my trusted critics are giving it a decent shakedown. I tend to lend my ear to the more genre-oriented (and mostly independent and therefore unpaid) critics who prefer the study of film rather than just tearing it to shreds. The basic faults I'm reading about from their perspective make sense--everything I've seen of Zack Snyder's work has the same fundamental flaws--but they do opine that it is worth watching and more interesting than Man of Steel.

Richard Roeper gave Batman vs Superman three stars in yesterday's paper, which was kind of a surprise - by now the critics generally seem so sick of superhero movies that I half expected him to bash it out of spite.

"Lady Avenger" (1989)
A woman is given a weekend pass from prison in order to attend her brother's funeral, then goes vigilante against the gang of drug dealers who killed him. The frequent nude scenes by scream queen Michelle Bauer (who plays the heroine's slutty best friend) provide the main highlights in this generic slice of direct-to-video action junk directed by the infamous David DeCoteau ("Creepozoids," "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-A-Rama").

Vinyl (HBO) I think I am done with this show as it seems to be going nowhere. The musical guest appearances are cool but no longer hold my attention for an hour while the main character falls deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole.

I barely made it through the 2 hour series debut. Considering the subject matter, I thought it would be a slam dunk, but I couldn't get into it at all.

It was a long weekend here in Aus for Easter (had Friday and Monday off). My girlfriend came over with a bunch of movies, and we shut ourselves in for 4 days. We watched:
