| What TV shows tripped your trigger in 2015? New series that premiered in 2015 or older shows you first discovered in 2015 are all welcome. *This thread is for Toho. |

| I inadvertently posted this in another thread that was about "concerts", not "shows" as in "TV shows".
This year I fell in love with the Fox TV show "Gotham". I never thought I'd be interested in a "comic book" show because the only comic books I ever read were stuff like Tales From The Crypt.
Then this past August, a Cardinal Monday night game was rained out so I just randomly looked for something to watch and stumble across "Gotham". The first episode I saw featured a woman trapped in an insane asylum where the inmates had their body parts harvested for use in weird experiments. Rather than have this happen to her this woman carved out her own eyeball with a spoon and stomped on it in front of the asylum manager who was none other than Jeffrey "Reanimator" Combs.
How could I not be hooked after that? I bought Season 1 on Blu-ray and have been catching up on what I missed. I can't believe how dark and violent this show is especially since it airs during prime time on a broadcast TV network as opposed to cable.
Great show which I just learned has been renewed for a third season. Good thing because they left a lot of interesting plot threads hanging in the first two seasons. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| While I'm at it, another show that really grew on my this past year is "Bob's Burgers". I used to think it was really stupid and the drawings were terrible but for some reason the dry sense of humor grew on me. Then I learned that the voice of the youngest kid was done by the same actress who plays "Carol" on "Last Man On Earth". That just made me like it more because I never would have made that connection. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Top TV shows of 2015:
Daredevil - Marvel nailed it with this show, makes you forget that Ben Affleck every donned the red suit! Jessica Jones - I wasn't expecting much following the fantastic Daredevil, but this one blew me away. I couldn't stop watching until the final episode was over. Really looking forward to the Luke Cage series. Agents of Shield - Enjoyed the second half of S2 and first half of S3. Better than S1. Agent Carter - fun show! South Park - Still pretty darn funny Modern Family - Ended last season in the spring strong, but the latest season started weak (it looked like a show on it's way out) but really got going towards the end of the year. The Walking Dead - the first half of the new season was fantastic.
Decent viewing: The Americans - while not as strong as the first two seasons, still a good show.
Waste of time: Fear the walking dead... The season premier of the The Walking Dead showed how weak this series was, characters you could care less about, a lead you hoped would turn into zombie food quickly... it sucked.

| Shows I got into this year:
Angel: i watched through Buffy last year and loved most of it. Fairly recently I started getting really into Angel. Awesome show.
Madam Secretary: My wife and I heard good things about this show so we took a chance and ended up hooked.
The Office: I only caught it a few times when it was on the air but after watching and loving Parks and Rec I decided to give The Office a chance. Got into it in the second season and am almost finished. I will say that while I have enjoyed the series as a whole it clearly peaked in seasons 2-3.
I'm also a sucker for a few home renovation shows, especially since the Mrs likes watching them with me. I especially enjoy Property Brothers.

| I'm the same way with The Office.
I only caught it a few times in the middle of the night when I was on call and it was on our local Fox affiliate for some reason. That made me want to check out some more of the show. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| :I second Daredevil. It's Edgy, edgy, edgy... :I love The Flash in its second season. It has been a great ride and I can't wait to see what's next. :Agent Carter was very good in its initial 8 episode run. :Agents of Shield continues to get better and better, considering its early struggles. :I discovered Game of Thrones this summer, after swearing this show off, due to the fact that I hate that time period. What can I say, I was wrong... :The Leftovers is absolutely fabulous! I can't wait for the third season next fall... :The second season of True Detective received a ton of flack, but I still loved it. | |

I think a big problem that Agents of SHIELD had was that for its first season to a certain extent it was marking time until the collapse of SHIELD in the second Captain America movie. Once that was out of the way, it was able to go in its own direction and has improved since then. I've just started watching Daredevil, but it's been really good so far. The second season of The Flash only starts this week in South Africa, but I'm looking forward to it as I enjoyed the first season. After all, how can you not love a show that has - Spoiler:
Mark Hamill uttering the line "I am your father"
(minor spoiler for the first season episode with the Trickster)

| The only new shows I got into this past year were Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Man Seeking Woman, & The Grinder. Really great shows.
I also got into Orange Is The New Black this past year with season 3. Not sure why I avoided it until now. It's pretty damn good.
Looking forward to Angie Tribeca in 2016. _________________

| I recently discovered Longmire on Netflix. A show about a small town Wyoming sheriff. It was cancelled by A&E but Netflix picked it up. Pretty cool show. | |

| In all honesty, the only television show I watch with regularity is Travel Channel's, "Mysteries at the Museum" and any and all of it's offshoots. It's on pretty much all night Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. My wife watches the telly more than I, so I spend most nights listening to Metal and typing at you fine folks. | |
