The girls' first Metal concert - Blind Guardian/Grave Digger 11-24-15

Grave Digger opened and made the most of their 50 minutes. They played classic and popular tunes, ending with Rebellion. They were fun and funny.







Blind Guardian, of course, put on an amazing show. They spread their set out over 20 years' worth of catalog, and were on their game. The girls mentioned that they sounded close to what the albums sound like. Hansi is a funny guy in a weird German way.

It was a very good crowd. Many hundreds of people. I don't know, maybe even more than that. Much better than in a small bar with bad acoustics.

I second these thoughts... I could be wrong, but I see it less likely these days that kids actually enjoy their parents music. Just some random questions. Why Blind Guardian and Grave Digger? Will there be any other shows that you plan to take your girls in the future? Do your girls have favorite metal acts?

metalinmyviens - Blind Guardian is pretty much my favorite band, and my girls both like them as well (especially Nightfall In Middle Earth) so they showed an interest. It seemed like the perfect concert to start them off with.

If I asked my oldest, right now she'd probably say The Sword, but she used to claim Dio as her favorite. Being that she's a teenager, that's likely to change. Her most recent kick is 90s stuff like Tool and Nirvana. Of course, she'd go to a Justin Timberlake concert in a heartbeat!

The younger one likes Queen, Timeless Miracle, Blind Guardian.

They're both in that beautiful stage of life where they're discovering old(er) music that they never knew existed. Sadlym, most of us are past that stage, but they are really digging in deep.

Yeah, since they enjoyed this show so much, we'll certainly look for more to go to. On the way home we were discussing that very thing.
