I will not say anything other than Walter Palmer DDS lives and works within 1 mile of my own suburban domicile.

Alot has gone down since Cecil was killed.  What are your thoughts?

Oh boy!  Don't get me started.

I absolutely hate trophy hunting.  I have no objection to hunting animals if you're going to eat what you kill.  I also have no objection to the periodic "culling" that some municipalities have to do to keep the deer herds under control (especially since most of the time the meat is donated to food pantries).

But hunting an animal just so you can hang a head on your wall is just wrong IMO.  WRONG!!!!

I've read that this dentist idiot has received death threats over his killing of Cecil the Lion.  OK, that's just over the top.  I don't want to kill the guy but I would like for his dental practice to wither and die; I think what would be a just punishment for being an arrogant SOB.  "I thought everything was legal.".  Dolt.  That doesn't excuse the fact that you were hunting a species that, while technically not endangered, is still "threatened", for no other reason than to mount a head on the wall of your den.

I basically agree completely with Toho. I grew up hunting and fishing as subsistence because my family was poor as hell and whatever was killed we ate and used everything from that animal. Subsistence hunting is the only form of hunting that should exist in my opinion.

However, I don't know all the details on this cecil the lion thing, but as much as I am disturbed that this sort of thing happens, it also bothers me that so many people will devote themselves to rallying around one issue but totally turn their backs on POC folks being killed mercilessly by f*cked up police over and over again.

I think people possess the ability to be outraged at more than one thing at a time...well, some do anyway. The Cecil thing came under the "personal interest story" category which is something that will stir up the imagination of the internet for about 5 minutes and then everyone moves onto the next thing.

I have no problems with hunting for food but trophy hunting makes me ill.

Over-privileged white guy goin' halfway across the world to prove his "manliness" and overcompensate for his small weiner.

A Viagara prescription would've been a hell of a lot cheaper and caused him WAY less trouble.

Personally I think it takes a certain mindset to look at a beautiful wild animal and think to yourself "Ya know, that head would look really great on my wall.".

Would you want someone who thinks like that to put you under any kind of general anesthetic?  Maybe I've seen too many horror movies but my answer is a resounding "Hell no!".

Yep!  That's exactly what this was.  Go get a fire-engine red Porsche next time douchebag.

Hunting was a sport I practiced a very long time ago due to living for a term in the foothills. But I use the term "sport" loosely, because my ultimate goal was always to stock the freezer. We were hard up with my dad switching jobs and all, and it was a cost-effective matter of feeding the family. Not that I got a lot, really.

I also did it on the property for population control. Wild boar would overrun our yard and even injured one of our dogs, so I'd kill one, cleaned it, and buried the head. The reason for the head burial is how the scent drives herds away--sort of a warning, and it worked. Wild boar meat ain't that great but hey, it was protein.

Anyway, the thought of anything related to taxidermy has never interested me. Even with fish. I shoot it, I eat the f*cking hell out of it.

Trophy hunting is just wrong. Hunting for food, on the other hand, is a viable way for subsistence. However, living here in western PA I come across a lot of weird people who hunt and they all seem to get some sort of perverse pleasure out of it.

I'm a life-long city slicker myself so I never got the appeal of hunting. I understand the need for it on occasion, but as a sport, nah. Hunt humans. That seems like more of a challenge.

I hunt for food. I do shoot a lot but it is with clays and other targets. I do not see the wisdom of shooting something living for just the thrill of killing.

If he's so f*&king masculine, lets have an unarmed fight to the death between him and an adult lion.

Then we'll see who's ending up without a head!

I have nothing against hunting to eat, that's the food chain and an essential part of nature.

I am the hunting Lodge Manager for a sporting goods retailer and although I don't hunt anymore I never did it for Trophy purposes. It's stupid. Hunting, in it's original form is for subsistence, and for that reason only. Also, if done right, venison jerky is awesome!
