| What do you feel is the most overplayed or overexposed metal song? One that you have heard repeatedly over the years that you wish you would never hear again.
If I hear Run To The Hills, Running Free, or Here I Go Again, I will murder the closest person to me. Crazy Train needs to be eliminated and never played again. EVER!
...and I'm completely serious. |

| I love these tunes, but I just hear them too much: Jump; Rock n' Roll; Rooster: Here I Go Again; Pour Some Sugar on Me; Sweet Home Alabama; Welcome to the Jungle; Boys are Back in Town; The Ocean; Welcome to the Machine; Over the Hills and Far Away; The Unforgiven; Girls,Girls,Girls; Paranoid. That's all for now. | |

I don't listen to the radio much at all, it's just that these are the songs that always seem to be on when I do get tired of whatever cassettes and cd's I have in the car. I get the concept of playlists, but this is just ludicrous!!!

| in the end, it all comes down to what you consider metal. that argument never ends, so it's almost impossible to nail down a choice as overplayed/overexposed metal song.
if you consider these metal...
We're Not Going To Take It (Twisted Sister) played on birth control & tampon commercials daily.
Rock You Like A Hurricane (Scorpions), is there not a sporting event where this tune isn't played? _________________

| ** Disclaimer** Overplayed does not mean sucks, for me it just means "enough already!!!" With that being said:
Any and all AC/DC - That seems to be the universal Heavy Metal band that even the reddest of necks in places like W. Texas where I live will listen to ad nauseum. Enough!

That was the first song I thought of. Great tune, but nowhere near Priest's best, yet it's all some people know.

| I could do without hearing "Rock You Like a Hurricane" ever again. As for "Ace of Spades", well sir, that song should be on a constant loop. All Lemmy, all the time. I want that played at my funeral. | |

Rock You Like A Hurricane (Scorpions), is there not a sporting event where this tune isn't played? I have also seen TS's "I Wanna Rock" in a rental car commercial and "Rock You Like A Hurricane" in a TGIFriday's restaurant commercial. Man, it's a strange world.

How would that help? they have all been playing the same songs for the last 25 years or so, with a bit of newer stuff thrown in here and there. I got Sirius satellite radio and it is quite a treat to be able to find more that I want to hear. It's not perfect but its something. Not metal but I never ever need to hear Bad to the Bone again in my life. |

| Overplayed, perhaps, but since I never listen to the radio except on rare ocassions, it doesn't bother me much. I like many of the songs listed thus far.
For a while, the "Side of A Bullet" by Nickleback seemed to be playing every time I was anywhere near a radio, at the gym, at work, etc.
There is a Godsmack song that starts with a harmonica that the local Clear Channel station plays 100x a day. I'm guaranteed to hear it at least once in the hour or two I am in the gym each day.
Then there are the bands like Zeppelin, Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Deep Purple, etc. who have huge catalogs of great music yet the rock stations seem to think these bands only recorded one song. Molly Hatchet - Flirtin' with Disaster, Deep Purple - Smoke onthe Water, Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper, etc. How about something off the other 15 albums they recorded.
