| I'm fairly new to this band - but I picked up "Shadows and Dust" recently. I have to say it's pretty kick-butt. Anyone else heard of this band? Like them? What's your take? |

| I picked up the Sorcery album with some EP on it a few years ago and found it to be dreadful. Haha. I mean, it was just horrible mumble-grumble death metal. Terrible. However, I think their latest few would probably appeal to me more. |

| Yeah, I don't have any of their old stuff. The one I have is fairly new - and I found it quite good. Also, for the record, I am not really too much of an 'extreme' metal guy. I love my thrash, but for black and death metal - it has to be pretty darn good for me to buy it. I find these guys to be of this category. Right up there with Nile and Behemoth (my other two favorite DM bands). |

However, I think their latest few would probably appeal to me more. i loved Sorcery, everything after that album has been a let down. even adding hip-hop elements to Victims Of This Fallen World. nothing after that album has reclaimed my respect for them either. _________________ | |

| A buddy of mine burned their last album for me. It was kick-bunghole, but so many albums, so little time and money. It will be a while until they are under my radar and priority list. | |

| I purchased Serenity In Fire one and a half year ago. I like it very much and play it quite often. Unfortunately it is the only album of Kataklysm that I own. I have In The Arms Of Devastation on my wish list for a while now but I didn’t manage to get it yet. | |

| Saw them with Eyes of Fire/Danzig/Trivium and was unimpressed. Standard Death metal as far as I could tell, not bad just sounded like all those other bands that sound like that. |

| I love Kataklysm. I met Maurizo at a show once too. Great live band. Thier old stuff (with a different singer whose name I forget) does not appeal to me. I'm indifferent with Victims of This Fallen WOrld. It's OK. But starting with The Prophecy, and up to In the Arms of Devistation, I think they are all fantastic albums. The Prophecy is probably my favorite, but I love Shadows and Dust, as well as Serenity in Fire. Can't wait for the new one either! Should be killer. As far as them being "typical death metal" I really have to disagree on that. I'm not a fan of "typical death metal." Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, etc etc. Kataklysm is far more dynamic in my opinion. And a lot of thier songs are just incredibly heavy and intense. The vocals, while sort of in the death metal vein are unique to my ears. And I think that's what sets them apart as well. Oh well. Enjoy! Get The Prophecy next...... Great album... | |
