| Unless it's a meet-and-greet that fans paid for, band members aren't obligated to go. Floor Jansen was recently torn to shreds online after explaining that sometimes she's just too exhausted to meet fans after shows. She then tried to explain how difficult meeting fans can be, with them demanding this or that, thinking it's okay to inappropriately touch her, etc.
She said this in response to fans pissed that she didn't meet with fans after a show. Not an obligation, of course. Instead of people understanding, they flipped, called her a diva, a bitch, and so forth. So yeah, I totally get why some people wouldn't want to meet with fans. Some people are good at handling douchebag fans, some are not. I would be in the latter category. Haha.

| Every band has their off days, i've heard more positive stories about people meeting Poison then bad ones, so I wouldn't brand them as douches just because of that. That Solomon guy in Crucified comes across as a real jerk(I rolled my eyes and groaned at the lyrics to "Insult Circus", IMO that song made him sound like a bigger douche then the people he was criticizing) - Don't you just hate when you get to meet a famous rock star and they turn out to be the biggest jerk you ever met...That happened to me recently. It stung so bad that I decided to get rid of their cd's and never buy their music again.. What really gets me is they are suppose to be a huge Christian band but truthfully after the way they acted wrote:
Just curious, what band was it? Was it Bride? Wouldn't surprise me if it was as Dale sounds like a total asshole most of the time(the vocalist of Deliverance doesn't sound very pleasant to be around either) - I've met numerous musicians over the years and the only one who was a douche was Ace Frehley. I never let it ruin my enjoyment of his music, tho. It was a long time ago anyway. wrote:

| All the musicians I've met have been cool so far. Oscar Soutu of Anonymus stood out as one of the nicest people I ever met when I met him in 2007. | |

And as for the band, I have heard/read in the past they were off stand-ish when meeting fans in the early-mid 1990s, as they hatred to be treated more special than their message. They didn't like being treated like rock stars. The pressure of being a "great live-stage act / recording act" from everybody, instead of what they represented, killed their desire.

If I finished working my shift, am bone tired and cranky and want to go home and rest my feet, and then company executives bring in a bunch of people (potential customers, their friends, etc) for a tour of the place and want me to stay longer to explain things, I should be happy about it? (Well, if I am still on the clock, or get freebies for hanging around, then it would be ok, maybe.) But yeah, I would think, after the show with a break 20 or 40 minutes, after a band showers, or towels off the sweat and catches their breath, and there are still tons of fans, it would be classy for the band to meet the diehards that waited.

My cousin has interviewed him a few times over the years and he's pretty friendly but his co-operation has fluctuated over the years and he changes his story a bit. I've never heard of him being called a douche. The one guy whose music I really like that I would never want to meet is Cronos as he seems like a total bell end!

Brokentulsa, sorry to hear that about Sweet.Ive been a huge Stryper fan since I was a teen.Hopefully it was just a bad day for him.He doesn't seem as personable as Rob though.

It seems that Sweet isn't always good at handling negative comments about his music. He sometimes gets a bit defensive and feels the need to have the final word. I've seen those posts and it seems that he "gets even" with jokey and snarky comebacks, but he perhaps doesn't see how his comebacks could be seen as "douchy" at times. Personally I feel that the latest exchange of words between them was somewhat misunderstood by brokentulsa, but I can very well see how it could be interpreted as a very jerky response. I also read it in a different way at first but only realized later that Sweet perhaps didn't mean it that way, and when interpreted in another way, it kinda isn't that bad of a comment anymore. It doesn't take away the fact that there is still this sense of "wanting to have the final word" though. But then again, Sweet is just another person typing stuff on internet boards, and what he writes doesn't much differ from most other people in situations when they feel a bit defensive. "At least" he tries to have a sense of humor instead of being completely serious, if that helps.

What did he do? Maybe he was on drugs? Probably. It was about a year before the KISS reunion, he was one of the "special guests" at a rock n roll/sci-fi collectibles show I attended. Dude showed up late, looked like he was hung over as hell, and when they started herding the line of fans past him, he just signed whatever was put in front of him... he didn't even say hi or even look up at anybody, nothin'. By contrast, Adam "Batman" West was at the next table and he was a total gentleman, shook hands, posed for pix, and seemed happy to chat with everyone. Even he looked over at Ace's table from time to time like "What is that clown's problem?" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Lets be honest, quite a few metal fans find it difficult to differentiate between a female metal singer and a hooker, so fair play to her. I've had a couple of life experiences where people always ask the same ignorant questions and sometimes I'm happy to trot out a pre prepared script that answers their ridiculous questions in a friendly, patient and jovial manner, other times I'll give out monosyllabic grunts, while giving out the body language that I'd quite like to beat them to death with their own severed arms. Rock stars must get asked the same questions, over and over again a lot.

| Scenario: You just played your heart out for the fans. You come off stage tired, sweaty, and worn out. You gave them a great show and everything you had. Then you run into 30 people coming off the stage or out back of the club who feel and act like you "owe" them 10 minutes of your time EACH to chit-chat and sign a bunch of shit. There are many musicians who smile their way through it...and there are some who act how they feel...tired and ready to go. Like Ken said, they're just people...it's exhausting having to be "On" all the time. _________________ FINAL SIGN

| I have met a LOT of famous or semi-famous people. Some more successful than others. I have only met a few guys that turned out to be idiots or assholes!
The ones that were asses to me at the time I met them were Tony Bennett, Nick Barker, that fuktarded vocalist from Extol and a few more I won't name.
The ones I have met FAR FAR outweigh the bad.

I saw that interview and her response made perfect sense to me - Dutch women are pretty darn open when it comes to sexuality, so if she is mentioning inappropriate touching then the fans are being douchebags.......

Yeah, it seems Dale's behavior really get douchy was when the band started trying to follow the latest music trends with lousy albums like "Fist Full Of Bees". On the band's live album from around that time(Cornerstone 2001), Dale's onstage banter is just obnoxious and incredibly annoying and he does not sound like someone I would want to be around.

I met DD twice and both times he was very cool. Now I cannot say the same for guitarist Derek Tailer, but I chalk that up to "bad day" rather than "bad person" on both times I had the opportunity to meet him. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

You may not like Nugent because of his public image and how the media likes to portray him, but I have met him on three occasions and he was very cordial, polite and gracious on all three of them. Signed every piece of paper we pushed his way. Talked with us about music. He definitely never came off a douchy rock star who is "too cool to talk to you." _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!
