Nudity

In my house we don't censor very much. We maybe a bit too lenient, but words never killed anyone. So movies with cursing doesn't usually get censored.

No pornography, but nude bodies, sex is natural, so we don't censor that very often.

While I have watch and do watch violent movies, I do tend to censor violent movies. Violence is lot more harmful then sex.

Hell, we sometimes have to censor the news.

I have no idea what your local newscasts are like, but here in Tampa, Fl where I live, especially the station I dub Bad News 9, if you watch it long enough you are convienced any minute now someone is going break into your home and murder you.

When I am seen by female nurses and doctors, the first thing I ask before they can say a word is
"OK! Let's get started,
Do i get naked now? Want me to take off my clothes??" and they just stand there speechless for a minute.
They should act more professional.

You are supposed to wait until you see them in a professional capacity, not just when you see them at the supermarket!

Isn't that the truth?  HBO was my go-to source for nudity back in the day.  It was way easier than trying to buy Playboy or Hustler and it came right to your couch; you didn't have to go anywhere.

Great move Scott.  My parents raised me in a VERY strict Christian home so of course the first thing I did when I got to college was experiment with a lot of the stuff they'd told me was "evil".  Fortunately I wised up by my junior year but not every kid does.

This is where I'm at as a parent.I was raised in a very strict home which I love them for but I had to go through the whole rebellious stage. I want my kids to be raised like I was but I don't want to be so strict that they have no idea of the world we live in.

same with us. My wife and I preview stuff before letting our kids watch it and we will discuss the good and bad of movies/tv as well. I think it is important to be responsible but at the same time not shelter kids to the point that they cannot function in the world. I think if you bring them up and help them think and understand what they believe they will be their own person. This does not prevent them from making bad choices but it does help them navigate.

My childhood wasn't structured much - I remember my parents changing the channel if something really violent (when I was around 6-7) happened, but that's it - sex scenes were usually just watched in awkward silence - my dad would sometimes go, "Hey Gustav, don't you think they have better stuff to do than just sit there and cuddle?".

Not sure how I would treat this as a parent as I don't have kids and probably never will. However, the way I am with nudity and sex scenes in movies is all about context. As long as it furthers the story in some way, I have o problem with it. It's when it seems that it's just there gratuitously and out of nowhere, that I find it totally unnecessary. It has to have some kind of a purpose besides getting a teenage boy to say "boobies!".

Funny thing, if I'm watching a movie with my mom or my dad and a sex scene comes up, I feel embarrassed and uncomfortable and use it as a premise to get up and get a drink or a snack. I just can't watch that stuff with my parents. That has nothing to do with how we were raised BTW, as my sister isn't bothered by it.

I actually bought Emmanuelle In America because it was so notorious.  Most of it is boring.  But the scenes which garnered the film its notoriety are still quite shocking.  Even to Toho "I own 'A Serbian Film'" studios.
