Always been jealous of California and Florida where it's always warm weather - good vibes year long - not so in Boston - even now, in August , it's getting colder and darker earlier - etc Here's a summer metal song that was popular - back in the day - Extreme had competition from these guys - they were WAY better than Extreme, in my oppinion - Any other summer-related tunes with 'summer' in the title ?

I tend to listen to more hard rock/hair metal in the summertime

Same here. Hair/glam metal just feels right in the summer time. Something about the carefree attitude and party vibe of the music. DLR-era Van Halen always sounds better in summer too. Certain stoner bands, like Fu Manchu, are made for summer crusin' round too.
I save the gloom & doom for the fall and winter months.

Never heard that song or of that band before, But a very good 80' fun Party sound going on there.
Speaking of Cali. Saw Y&T at the Santa Cruz Beach & Boardwalk summer music series here on Friday. 2 + hours of what I would call kick ass summer music.. Dave was awesome as usual..

Summer Nights by Van Hagar (dig the song, even though the lyrics are stupid).

Well, my first thoughts repeat the previous comments -
Van Halen (Jump, Panama, I'll Wait, Dancing in the Streets, Beautiful Girls, Ice Cream man. = many more...)
Van Hagar (Summer Nights, Why Can't This Be Love, Right Now)
Hair Metal/ Glam Metal - I think the fun party time feeling from the popular songs of this era lead themselves to a good summer time vibe - especially if the video showed, umm, shall we say, a bit more skin..
A couple of other Bands and songs that remind me of lost summers: Tesla - Little Suzie Aerosmith - Permanent Vacation (the whole album), Walk this Way,...many more Def Leppard - Rock of Ages, Pour some sugar Scorpions - Rock you like a Hurricane, Arizona
I think a lot of Southern Rock (Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet) genre fits as well as Classic Rock (Journey -Escape, ZZTop - Eliminator)
Thanks for sharing the vid by Bang. Never heard it before and and I enjoyed that.

This is what I always think of when I think of "summertime metal". I even find myself singing the chorus while watching the local weather if the forecaster says something like "real summertime weather":

I remember when VAN HALEN's "Diver Down" LP was out, and it seemed every radio station that summer played all the songs off it. So , yes, that, plus all the favorites from the first 3 albums being played all the time too, make me think of Van Halen as a summertime band.

I've come to find recently that The Plasmatics (especially WOW) are the perfect summer drive albums.
For me this song and the album too will always represent a long ago summer and my first love. Never fails to take me back.

For me "Summertime metal" is metal that reminds me of summers of the past (mainly music that I really got into around summer time and brings back old memories):
