I like it ! Sounds raw and has a strong punk-rock edge - with metal harmonica - The middle break on "Loved by You" - sounds kinda like Thin Lizzy's Jail Break - LOL - Surprised to see the name Rhett -mentioned - I owned Jack Starr's Out Of the Darkness lp ( Concrete Warrior was a super tune ) There was an awesome photo of both of them infront of a wild looking car - on a tough street - at like 10 am or something - Carl Canedy was on drums - just read on Wikka, Rhett was killed by Alanta cops - due to a car-jacking?

Rhett was NOT shot by the cops. He was shot by a carjacker.
I hold Restless Breed in very high status. Following Fire Down Under was a tough sell for me, but I really appreciate how much the band gelled with Rhett and allowed the writing to fit his style. It is not (cannot ?) a Fire Down Under pt.2. for sure. The writing actually reminds me more of what they made with Rock City than what they were moving along with both Narita and Fire Down Under.Almost a throw back to their less speedy and more rock sound. Not to say that speed was missing from this album.
And it sure was shocking not to see/hear Guy in the band, but I was impressed right away when I bought this back when it came out in '82. There is not a filler track on this record imo.
I actually enjoy this more than Born In American (by a nose hair).
One of my favorite albums by them. The song VIOLENT CRIMES could have been on the THUNDERSTEEL ALBUM because it has the same type of guitar sound then other songs on that álbum. Very cool speed song.

Riot is such an interesting band. They seemed to switch styles with every album. Probably why they never gained a huge following. Restless Breed is one of their best though. Shame about Rhett.

Good album! One of the few Riot CDs I own (or owned).
Riot is one of those bands that I've always meant to dive deeper into but had never gotten around to it till fairly recently. For a long time the only Riot album I owned was Fire Down Under (might as well start with their best, right?) but just a few weeks ago I finally landed a copy of Restless Breed and damn, it has barely left my player since then. Better late than never, eh?
So which Riot album should I look into next? I seem to dig the earlier stuff more than the later (post-Thundersteel) material, so I've got my eye on Born In America, Narita and/or Rock City.

Of the earlier material, check out Born in America next.
Of the later material, check out Unleash the Fire next.
