The most I ever paid was 20 and change for one single cd. It was Body Count, w/ Cop Killer on it. Nowadays I try not to go over 5 or 6 with shipping

You guys tin the US are lucky, you can pick up some great bargins for a couple of $$$ and the postage rate within the US is cheap, it can get very dear to send to Europe.

In saying that I think most of the rare stuff shows up to being by European Sellers.

I'm jealous that the European and Japanese markets usually get all the cool bonus releases (extra songs, double discs, cool ep's, etc.) that we have to pay big bucks for as imports.

Whenever I've had the chance to visit Europe (Italy, Greece, England), I made it a point to stop in any music store I can find, looking for cool music.

Wow!!! You're talking of Euros or dollars here?! 32 euros for a normal
CD?! and I thought that 16-19 EUR for a new CD was expensive! (Online
or in shop, it doesn't matter here Smile )

After reading some reviews I went onto ebay and bought the entire Iced Earth catalog and the seller just disappeared. No cd's and no refund. I did that to save on shipping costs, but have since learned my lesson. I now buy my music from amazon. Ebay may be great, but I have seen silly bidders and thieving imposters. I'm now very cautious.

I have since purchased (re-purchased) the missing cd's.

I tend to find the waiting to the last minute or even last 30 seconds usually gets a cd at a good price (if the goofs before you haven't upped the price already tpp far up). Usually people give the lowest possible bid (on the cd's I've gone after at least) and if you swipe in at 30 seconds you can usually get it without a bidding war on your hands.

I bought the same version (judging by the band pics in the inner scan) new, sealed for 13 EURO. (Probably a boot).

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get another copy of that Meliah Rage disc on the cheap, Ult.

Yes, folks, *I* am the guy on Lala who sent him the copy that was in poor shape when he received it... though it was mint when it left my house!! I still feel terrible about it too!! Smile

I'm an eBay hound. I'm always on there looking for stuff. I've gotten some incredibly rare albums for UBER-cheap prices.

I think price depends on a few things:

a) how well-known the disc is
b) how many items the seller has listed (I've noticed that usually when a seller lists a whole bunch of stuff, prices tend to be higher)
c) how well-known the seller is
d) time of year (certain spots in the year, like just after Christmas, summer, etc. tend to be busier than others)

I just lost an auction for the original versions of both Realm cds. My max bid was $25.90 and I got sniped.Weird thing is ,there's another seller that has in their ebay store the limited numbered re-releases (new) for the same price.I can't see why anyone would pay for something for more than the price they can already get it. I realize that these were pretty rare at one point but the re-releases should have put an end to that.Guess I'll just buy the re-releases.

Of course not. I still find quite a lot of good deals. I just hate seeing something I really want, only to click on it and immediately know I'd get screwed if I bid on it.

Allright; beat this for silly. I was just now pissing around on Amazon; and I checked on the first album I ever bought (I think I was 12). It's the Osmond Brother's "Crazy Horses" (it's actually sort of a cartoon attempt at hard rock- the title track is covered on the Stoner /Doom compilation that I was posting about here this week- and the Sensational Alex Harvey Band -SAHB-hence my tag here covered it too). anyway, one available, 497.50.
Holy smokes, I have that CD (musta paid about 30 bucks just because it was my original first purchase). Now I think I have to put it in my safe deposit box. You can't get any sillier than that IMO.Laughing very hard

I recently received a copy of the new Meliah Rage CD but it wasn't in great shape, SOOO, I decided to look for a cheap copy on Ebay. I found a copy for .99 cents and bid $3.00 (plus $3.50 shipping.) Overall, not a bad deal. However, SILLY EBAY BIDDERS like to spend too much on CDs and push the value up. Somebody overbid me and the bidding is now up to $6.00 plus shipping.

I went over to to Amazon.com and just purchased a new copy outright for $7.

Silly, silly ebay bidders. They get caught up in that 'gotta win' mentality and pay way more for CDs/records than they are worth. This happens to me all the time.

Amazon is so much better, my collection has tripled since I've discovered it.

(its still like 1/12th of yours tho Scott... grrrrr)
