CC Deville/Samantha 7

Was wondering if anyone knew anything regarding this (or any other similar) advance releases.

I am curious if this was studio made for the band. Or maybe the producer or??? It is a pro printed cdr. Came as you see it, no artwork etc... Only difference discovered so far from the official release is obviously the absence of the Samantha 7 name and Fay and Ray was changed to Bonnie Bradley for the official release and also the track order is different...

I am in the process of re listening to the discs to see if there is any mix differences... So after giving the "promo" disc another spin it is apparent that the mixes are a bit different and some tunes are quite different, while others are note for note the same as the release.

I have another similar release of my buddies band that the producer made the cd (a total of 4) right in the studio and handed it to him...

Just wondering if there is anyone in the know that might know. Thanks.

Maybe he recorded this to be released as a CC Deville solo album, but then for whatever reason, decided to re-record it as Samantha 7, with a different band? No idea, really. Just a theory. Cool collectible though. Where did you find that?

Best that I can figure from what I've read is that CC had been working on some solo recordings for 4 or 5 years prior. Then John Kalodner (sp?) started up Portrait Records and offered him a deal. They originally called the group The Stepmothers, but had to change it for legal purposes (someone else had the name), thus Samantha 7.

So perhaps you got a CC demo?

Sad trivia: Although not on the recording, guitarist Ty Longley played some live gigs with Samantha 7, prior to becoming the guitarist in Great White, who tragically perished in the night club fire.

I got it from my bff he got it from his manager at the time, in early 2000 he said.

Still no clue as to what its purpose or why it ended up where it did?

One more for ya. The name Samantha 7 comes from a female robot from a 60's animated Japanese kids tv show, 8 Man.
