| I've always felt like I was one of the few people that actually enjoy finding new bands. Searching and searching through various sites and/or related artists, has come to be one of my main hobbies as of late.
Classics are those albums you love so much, but sometimes tire out because you played them so much. So the question is. Do you find yourself listening to more newer bands or staying with what you are used to and love?

| Metal, like porn, was better in the '80s. But seriously... Occasionally a "new" band will pop up that catches my attention, but I don't keep my ear to the ground rooting out all of the hottest, n00-est and tr00-est bands like I used to. I just don't have the time, the patience, or the $$ anymore. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| All my "classics" at one time were "new" bands to me so the point is a bit moot. | |

| Hmm I said old because alot of my favorite bands are older. I do enjoy new bands I say it's like 60-40 or 70-30 when it comes to old and new bands. It just depends on new bands some are good some suck. It just seems you have to search a bit harder at times. | |

| Newer bands I guess. Although I gravitate to new bands that play in a classic style. | |

I know what you mean. My wife keeps telling me I buy the same CD over and over again.

| I enjoy lots of modern prog/instrumetal/melodjent kind of stuff. And a handful of traditional metal bands. Still vote for old since there is no bands whose music make the same effect on me as those oldies (late 80's - early 90's) | |

| I probably play older bands and newer bands equally. I love finding new bands. But I probably play 70's Black Sabbath and 80's Overkill and NWOBHM bands just as much as I play Savage Messiah and Striker and Hour of Penance, etc. | |

This is where I land. Anyhow, I find that some old or "classic" bands have been putting out killer stuff lately (Overkill, Accept, Testament, Tourniquet, as a few examples) and excellent new bands are constantly popping up.

| A lot of time when I try new bands, I might like them for a little while and then the phase ends. All of my favorite bands are from the 60's, 70's or 80's and I never seem to get tired of it. I much prefer discovering "new to me" old bands... | |

Both should be an option. I have discovered old stuff that I had never heard before(Budgie, Wishbone Ash, Bodkin, etc.) and newer bands. I just have two options: A) Stuff I like B) Stuff I don't like Doesn't matter the year.

| Both. Grew up on Sabbath, then discovered Thrash. Moved into Death Metal and Black Metal, etc... I'm constantly looking for new stuff, though I gravitate toward the doom and stoner genre these days. Think it goes back to me being a kid and hearing my parents listen to Sabbath and Southern Rock. I still love thrash and death metal though, so I dig a lot of the modern bands like Revocation, Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, Ulcerate, etc... I also like a lot of the new US Black Metal that's out there like Anagnorisis and Panapticon. I'm all over the spectrum. I just like Metal. About the only stuff I don't care for is Nu-Metal, Deathcore and Metalcore. Well modern metalcore. I like a lot of the late 90's and early 2k's metalcore, especially the early Tribunal Records releases. | |

| I have a weird timeline too in that I usually don't get into new stuff when it first comes out, a lot of times it's a few years and then finally I discover it because I've been collecting stuff from a bunch of other years too at the same time. Nothing really feels too "new" to me honestly. | |

| That happened to me. I was stuck in the 80's and 90's (and the vast majority of it Christian metal) and had nothing new until around late 2005. So, everything from about 96/97 until 2005 (and just about everything secular) was new to me. I'm still catching up! And I'm not sure I'll ever be able to completely catch up. But, that does keep things interesting. | |

what he said. Finding the time is getting harder and harder. Discovering a new band does feel good, brings me back to the days when music was new and I was wide eyed.
