| I understand this runs the risk of getting locked, but with some of you being from the mythical land of NJ, I wanted to get your opinions.
I've been on a media news fast since after the whole Zimmerman debacle, and it's been nice TBH. But I just got smacked in the face about this whole bridge scandal. So, if I'm understanding it right, Christie is being accused of deliberately closing the GW bridge for an incredible amount of time just as a blitz against Fort Lee's mayor who has refused to endorse Christie? Did I get that right? I've always understood the GW bridge to be THE major artery, hell, the lifeblood of NJ and that cutting it down to one lane is akin to closing the 405 (for more than one day like it was in the past, obviously), or maybe every inlet to SF except for one lane on the 80 here at home. And apparently an elderly lady died of a heart attack because of this mess? Too strange and juvenile a thing for words--if indeed it was an instigation of sorts. Probably the most WTF scandal we've ever had.
I have a lot of respect for NJ--mostly due to all the rock and metal that's come out of there--and out of every politician, Christie is the only man who I've had any respect for other than Kennedy. In fact, I've always said oh happy day if he were to run for main office. Thoughts?

| The guy was definitely involved in this. His underlings would not have done such a thing, without his approval & most likely his blessings. He's just another politician lying his ass off to save face with the media. _________________ | |

I agree 100%, I am also surprised, he is usually a very smart politician, very rarely has made any missteps and to allow his underlinings to put him in this position is unbelievable

| I stay away from political discussions online.... but both parties absolutely suck and are 100% corrupt - they only care about total control and they will do ANYTHING to keep their power. Political retributions have been going on for a LONG time and haven't stopped....

| I'm in New Jersey and I couldn't possibly give less of a f*ck about the whole thing, to be honest with you. It's Garden State prick-waving politics as usual. - Quote :
- And apparently an elderly lady died of a heart attack because of this mess?
On the radio this morning, that lady's family said that they don't blame Christie or the traffic mess for their mother's death. She was 91 years old and had been in ill health for some time, so they feel it would've been her "time to go" either way. They're not particularly thrilled that the media is trying to drag them into the middle of the aforementioned political prick waving contest. ...meantime, some lawyers have already gobbled up a bunch of people who were caught in that traffic jam and are preparing a class action lawsuit. Because, y'know, that's how we do things now. "I was inconvenienced, gimme some money!" One lady sez she was "traumatized" by the experience because she "has a panic disorder" and became very ill while stuck in the traffic. | I find his antics amusing. The media likes to poke him with a sharp stick then record what happens. He's never at a loss for words. And those words are usually un-PC and hilarious. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. I wouldn't go so far to use the word fake...I mean, he's not a full on ancap, but the man has got things straight on probably 90% of issues. IMO at least. He's been incalculably important in helping to push the movement to the mainstream's attention.

| I do dig Ron Paul somewhat, and he does deserve credit for at least unveiling libertarian ideals, most of which I find agreeable. But I also agree with joker; left or right it does't matter. I don't know any of these people personally so asking me to full on trust them to run this country after all the idiocy they've shown is ridiculous.
As for this topic, the general idea I'm getting is that the media is painting the population of NJ as being a bunch of angry drivers who were seriously affected by this ordeal, yet the reality of it was no one truly cared much beyond being annoyed. Kind of like what Keith is talking about. Is this accurate?

| Ron Paul was the best choice IMO. Although I fully understand that no politician is truly trustworthy. They all get corrupted somewhere down the line... But that being said, Ron Paul is a guy that would do a much better job than the last three turds. | |

He's been incalculably important in helping to push the movement to the mainstream's attention. He's not really a true Libertarian - he's a neo-conservative with a few libertarian views to go with his Xenophobic views.... Most people that identify as Libertarians (and are really libertarians) don't buy that he really is one..... His views are to push the huge, Federal bureaucracy down to the state level..... where most Libertarians realize the Federal government have greatly accelerated the decent into a totalitarian state over the past 5 years and want the Government out of our lives, not pushed down to the State level.
