Any other Rockabilly fans on this forum? I like it all from the 50s to current. The scene is pretty big in certain parts of the country and not even heard of in other parts....

I enjoy some good rockabilly tuneage from time to time. Stray Cats have been a longtime favorite of mine. Early Johnny Cash and Elvis, stuff from the Sun Record days is cool. I don't have too much straight-up rockabilly, but I have plenty of artists that incorporate elements of it into their sound, like Social Distortion.

I haven't dug too deeply into the horror-billy genre, but the stuff I heard, I liked.

I heard "Runaway Boys" on the radio for the first time in decades the other day, it's held up really well.

I just played their greatest hits in the car the other day. I had to drive my dad to an appointment and I know he won't listen to that "headbanging crap", so some Stray Cats was just the ticket.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the Reverend Horton Heat. Can't forget the Rev. Cool

Don't know much about the genre to be honest, but every time I hear the term "Rockabilly" I think of El Duce chanting "Down with Rockabilly! Down with New Wave!" on the Mentors' Live In Frisco single...

I enjoy it quite a bit. George Thorogood and Dwight Yoakam incorporates some elements of it into their stuff as well. I love the Stray Cats but to me the definitive Rockabilly album is Brian Setzers tribute to Sun Records.

Love it too, check this out. The whole thing is enjoyable but if you want FF to around 3:45 where the upright bass showdown starts.

I love most classic Rockabilly, as well as some modern Rockabilly-related stuff like Deke Dickerson, The Dave And Deke Combo, Big Sandy, The Horton Brothers, High Noon and a few others.

The only problem with them is there is not enough stuff out there! I think there are 2 albums & a split ep, that's all I can find anyway. Rob's solo stuff is great.

Reverend Horton Heat has a new album coming out in January. Here's the first single. Video is kinda NSFW-ish as it features scantilly-clad babes suggestively grilling meats and mixing batter. Saucy!!

Bumpin' for a recent discovery that I can't get of...the lovely Imelda May. I found her when I picked up Jeff Beck's Tribute to Les Paul a few months ago. She was one of the guest vocalists and since then I've been infatuated with her.

I'm slowly gathering up her solo albums as well. Good stuff. Might have to investigate that Kim Lenz too. Fiery red-head in a tight dress playing rockabilly? Yes please!!
