| My next gig will be arch enemy in December.
Recently saw Opeth and as always they never disappointed live. I think mike akerfeldt is a great front man. His banter in between songs always has me in stitches. Very surprised with the set list as they played loads of older songs with plenty of death growls. Only 2 off the recent pale communion and 1 off heritage. Considering how mike has been saying he's done with the death vocals and never really liked them this did throw me a curve ball. I know they will have to play some older stuff live and will always dip into some of the old classics but was genuinely surprised that a 2 hour gig had so many growling numbers. Mikes voice sounded great on both clean and growls so i hope the growls aren't lost completely on record and make a comeback in the future.

Mikes voice sounded great on both clean and growls so i hope the growls aren't lost completely on record and make a comeback in the future. The first leg of the US and UK tours is a more balanced setlist of their entire career. The second leg of the tour they will be performing the entire Pale Communion album in sequence, plus some older tracks. Mikael never said he doesn't like death metal vocals, just that he is no longer inspired by that style and won't be recording anything further using them. He loves their older material and knows the fans want to hear it, so they will always perform some of those songs. But, he said if fans are waiting for them to return to their earlier sound they are going to be disappointed, because it's never going to happen. I've got tickets to the co-headlining concert with Opeth and In Flames in December, then I plan on going to see them again when they come back through on the second leg. |

| Next week, getting ready to ROCK OUT with Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas Show! It's gonna be a rockin' show! Should I wear a Maiden shirt or maybe a Hendrix shirt? haha
Seriously, Mannheim Steamroller. My wife bought tickets and really wants to go, so we are going to that. I think there is some metal involved. Probably in the form of a Christmas tree.

| Still hoping to catch the Devin Townsend Project along with Animals as Leaders (never listened, but heard good things) in Baltimore on December 3rd. It's far enough in the future that something may yet get in the way of it, but I'm hoping not. | |

I hear about this happening often, but here when that happened for the Death Angel show last year the show still happened and the venue stayed open, only it became an all ages show. Which kinda sucked with all the ten year olds hanging around.
