I saw Boston live when I was 16, it was the Third Stage tour, and very good in concert, but they performed the entire 'Third Stage' album and it kind of sucked the energy out of the show, also did not help I would not own the album for years and years after seeing them live

I was looking forward to it because it has Brad on it, but disappointed that several of the tracks are from "Corporate Crap". I hope the Brad songs are indeed new songs but I have no interest in hearing anything from the last album. It was God awful, I played it about 3 times and then got rid of it. If this is anything like the first 3 I'm game. Had "Walk On" when it first came out but it just wasn't very good either
Serious? Several tracks from Corporate America? What an awful way to package a "comeback" album (for lack of a better word).
I enjoyed Walk On; very memorable songs with Tom's metallic edge.
Yeah it looks like 3 tracks are from the last album. They are re-records.
I enjoy Third Stage and recently picked it up on vinyl. I remember being pleased w it when it came out. I was 15 and I rememberl my friends liked it. But I haven't cared for anything since. The first RTZ album is better than anything they've done since Third Stsge.

I'll probably give this a listen when the free streaming version is available....... As mentioned, the first Boston album is the most "complete" album, Don't Look Back is good, and Third Stage is good, but just seems "lacking" - the ones that came after are snoozefests.
I was a Sr in High School when Third Stage was released - I remember thinking "Boston is still around?"

I think the cover art is brilliant, you did a superb job. That being said, if what's on the inside of the album is as good as what's on the out. This will be a fine release...
Darv, have you by any chance heard any tunes from the album?

Thanks. No, I haven't been privileged to hear any of it yet. They were keeping a tight wrap on this one this time out. Hopefully soon.

I saw Boston on this tour at the Texxas Jam. 2nd worst live concert I've ever been to. They used backing tracks & were stiff as a board. Horriable. Glad they weren't the main reason I went. I traveled thru 4 states to get to that concert. Boring zzzzzzz

Actually I was going to respond to your post this morning but I was dozing off and never got around to it. I was gonna say that's exactly what I've heard from others that I know have seen them live, but I guess some experience better things. I heard the triggers would be off, too, so some of the fx and layering wouldn't mesh well. They were a studio band so it makes sense.

NOTE: It appears the sample files (30 second clips) were pulled earlier today.

I have been playing professionally for over 20 years and in my experience I have found a balance between technology and the organic forms of performing live. While studio trickery is nice it doesn't always relate to the stage. At some point you loose the humanistic quality that is needed to communicate to the audience. I would much rather have my music come across differently than the actual product, than loose the attention of the listener/audience. It's a fine line between the two but the musician must be aware at all times and not get too involved, and step back and look at the broader perspective, as hard as that is. That said, I will always enjoy Boston for the simple fact that they are a part of my human psyche and Toms beautiful compositions.

You guys are weird. I don't see anything wrong with the cover art. Yeah, maybe the title is a little out of place, a little too bright and in-your-face, but beyond that I don't see anything wrong with it. In fact, fits quite well alongside their previous album covers; it just has a crisper, more modern feel because of the medium used to create it.
And this totally shouldn't have been moved to this forum. Boston is hard rock.

Boston latest studio album, Life, Love & Hope, will be released in the UK by Frontiers Records and - contrary to earlier reports – it DOES feature contributions from late singer Brad Delp. Delp took his own life in March 2007. His vocals appear on THREE tracks on the album. Other vocalists include David Victor (who joined Boston in 2012, after singing for a Boston tribute band), Kimberley Dahme (who joined the band in 2001), Tommy DeCarlo (who Boston mainman Tom Scholz first heard singing Boston songs on MySpace) and Scholz himself.
Scholz recently sued the Boston Herald newspaper, accusing them of blaming him for Delp's suicide. He lost the case.
Scholz says: "These are songs from the heart, each of them taking many months of effort to write, arrange, perform and record, always up to the demands of Boston's harshest critic – me. The songs have been meticulously recorded to analogue tape on the same machines and equipment used for Boston's hits for the past 35 years."
Delp sings vocals on three tracks: Didn’t Mean To Fall In Love, Sail Away and Someone 2.0. A full tracklist with personnel and notes by Tom Scholz follows:
1. Heaven on Earth 2. Didn't Mean To Fall In Love 3. Last Day Of School 4. Sail Away 5. Life, Love & Hope 6. If You Were In Love 7. Someday 8. Love Got Away 9. Someone (2.0) 10. You Gave Up On Love (2.0) 11. The Way You Look Tonight

I think it sounds like ass because it isn't a very good song. I think I'm gonna pass on this one I have the first 3 albums that's enough for me.

I like the new song.... The electronic drums are defiantly part of the 80s sound and I dig it. The 80s sound to me is the perfect sound. I plan to buy the new album for sure....maybe even on release day.
