How did I forget GRIP INC - Nemesis?!?!?!

I think that the nineties were a great decade for extreme metal genres such as Death, Black and Doom.
Many classic albums from all three genres came out in the nineties.

Plus myself I liked grunge I just never stopped listening to metal.

Awesome thanks guys, obviously stuff like the Black Album and RIP were on my radar but there is plenty here that wasn't (the last Rage & Running Wild albums I have heard are from the 80's) should keep me going for a while!

Really? Ive always heard that the Black album was one of their best. I wouldnt call it a classic yet give it a couple more years. I personally like songs from the Black album not my fav Metallica release (which is Load)

That album is as metal as Melvins ever got imo. Technically though, you're right, they aren't a metal band.

That album is as metal as Melvins ever got imo. Technically though, you're right, they aren't a metal band.

They did have some metal stuff, actually, so I'd say they qualify as a metal band.

To me, the Melvins fall into that rare breed of band that is impossible to categorize, and yet despite that, their whole discography makes a weird kind of sense. IMO they're like a genre all onto themselves.
