Subject: tuning: E or Eb? Thu Sep 05, 2013 8:08 pm
I'm trying to learn it on bass, but I can't even find the guitar tab to figure out what key it's in... I was hoping someone could figure it out for me. I don't really know how to tell. (yeah, stupid, I know) If not, that's cool, too.

It might help to know what song you are talking about.

Oops. I put it in the description and didn't even think to repeat it. The Misery Shows Act II by Trouble.

Don't have my guitar here at the moment, I'm pretty sure it's in standard. Just play the song until the 14 second mark and tune your E string so it sounds the same. It should be easy to figure out.

Thank you! I'm pretty sure it is standard, too... I lurk here so much and when I do finally post, it's an incredibly stupid question. lol

There are a few different tunings on that album, I think Psychotic Reaction is in Drop C# tuning or something similar.

I hadn't learned anything in that tuning until a couple weeks ago (Into the Void) and my bass doesn't like to stay tuned dropped that low...

You have to give the strings a little time to adjust to the new tension, after you tune it several times it will become more stable. It requires a lighter touch as well, Iommi did it because it was easier for him to play with the false finger tips. It also happened to sound AMAZING, but that was a happy accident.
