I don't understand...is he raising money for something to do w/ Autism?

He is touring with Red Lamb to raise awareness for autism, it is part of his goal with his new band to raise autism awareness

Short Summary

Dan Spitz (formerly of Inter-Galactic Metal Legends Anthrax) is raising money for his new venture RED LAMB. Dan, of course is known for his days as the guitarist for Anthrax and being a founding father of Thrash Metal, but what many are not aware of, is the battle he has been involved with over the last 6 years with Autism.
Dan is using his status as a metal legend to go on a nationwide tour with Red Lamb. It is Dan's mission to help raise money for an Autism cure through musical projects such as Dan's current band (Red Lamb) and other acts that wish to use their unique abilities to further the cause of an Autism awareness mission through Dan's company Puzzle Box Entertainment Group.

The first leg of our plan involves FAN Funding, which means we are asking our fans, friends, and everyday people to help us raise THE LAST little bit of money to fund the rest of the Anarchy for Autism Tour. That being said, we are not simply asking for a donation, rather we are engaging our fans and humanity as a whole to take part in helping us achieve our mission to further the awareness of Autism . We are looking to raise $8,000 which will be used to help Dan and Red Lamb press a few thousand CD's, the last few pieces of Gear and to put together a variety of band Merchandise.

Our album has already been recorded as you all are well aware of, it is co-produced by 13 time Grammy nominee Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) and Dan Spitz and mixed by Grammy nominated producer Johnny K (Disturbed, Megadeth, Staind, Three Doors Down, Finger Eleven, Kill Hannah, Plain White T's, Simple Plan, Avenged Sevenfold, Fallout Boy, The Academy Is, Sum 41, and Mudvayne)

I'm tempted to pledge, I've been interested in checking out Red Lamb for awhile and to be able to get a pressed cd instead of the cd-r copies currently available would be nice

I am going to do it, I have the digital coy of the album but i would like a shirt and the physical copy of the cd would be a nice bonus, I just have to wait til payday

One of the clubs in Charlotte has Red Lamb booked for a show in April.

No...they're raising money to press CDs and buy gear to tour. The "raising awareness" angle seems like a way to help grease the wheels.

But hey...I'm naturally cynical.
