Nice haul came in the mail today:

The Sword - Hammer of Heaven 7" picture disk

Oz - The Show Must Go On 7"

Glory Bells - Century Rendezvous

Various - Metal For Muthas

Desolation Angels - Desolation Angels + Valhalla 7" - This is the re-release that just came out last week from Buried By Time and Dust Records. It's an absolutely beautiful package with a huge photo insert, a giant gig poster, and 180 gram black vinyl.

Judas Priest - Freewheel Burning 12" single - UK import - This is a noteworthy single because the version of Freewheel Burning is different than the album version. It has a completely different intro added to it and has never been released on any cd including their recent UK singles collection box set.

You're getting some nice collectible vinyls bro. You need to post some photos of some of this stuff.

This thread makes me want more vinyl. Vinyl costs too much.

Stop existing, thread.

Vinyl is cheap if you only want used vinyl. You can get good, used vinyl for pennies at thrift shops and Goodwill. Most of the used vinyl you will find looks essentially unplayed. The jackets might be rough but usually the vinyl is shiny and like new.

New vinyl is not so cheap - usually from $17-$25. So it's not that great a deal if you want new.

Found this at Half Price Books today:

Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time - this is in unbelievable shape, NM+ at the worst. The jacket is glossy and without any damage. The lyric sheet inner sleeve is intact and untorn. The vinyl is glossy and perfect. Whoever had this took great care of it or never listened to it. Also, this album is a perfect example of why vinyl is superior to CDs or downloads because you can peruse the artwork easily and pick out all the hidden things. That's impossible to do with the CD version.

Another Half Price Books vinyl score today:

Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden - The jacket is in okay shape but the vinyl is near mint. The very cool thing about it is that this is the Harvest Records release and not the EMI re-release!

Debut EP smoked.

Yep. The Mini-LP was great and so is this single. I hope that Ryan Waste keeps the band going after he's done with the latest Municipal Waste album tour cycle.

Definitely. While I love the Waste, I enjoy Volture a little more.

Brent, who sings for Volture, sang for another Richmond, VA metal band, maybe around 2004-ish. A power metal band called Immortal Avenger. They were really good too. I'd recommend seeking out their 6-song CD as well.

This is the link to buy straight from the label: http://www.tankcrimes.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=volture&osCsid=9583fafe891a07728411ba28f6985208

Also, you can get the MP3s from here: http://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/rulebreaker

You can name your price for the downloads and you can get lossless formats which is what I did.

Thanks for those links. I was wondering about MP3 versions of the tracks, so that's great.

I picked up several records recently, including a mint copy of Iron Maiden - Flight 666 double picture disc set. Maybe I'd trade this one if anyone's after it ... There are some others from the lot I won't keep, but it's probably nothing that would interest anyone here - Gorgoroth's 1996 red 7", and a couple of old, but quite beat up Status Quo, CCR and Janis Joplin records ...

This will only be a cool find for me (and only because of sentimental family reasons) but yesterday I stumbled upon a near flawless Ready For The World - R.F.T.W. at my local Salvation Army. Cost me a quarter.

I found an antique mall in Edmonton when was in town for rush last weekend. They had a decent lp selection. I could go broke in a shop like that. However time and my music fund were short so I ultimately settled on a copy of black sabbath's "paranoid" and Stevie ray Vaughn and double trouble's "couldn't stand the weather."

I'm finally getting a chance to give them a listen now. Stevie is on right now, what a badass guitar player, sounds great blaring through my system!

Vinyl from Half Price Books today:

Ratt - Out Of The Cellar

The Rods - Let Them Eat Metal

The Rods - Heavier Than Thou

I can't believe I scored those two Rods LPs. I have never seen any Rods albums in any store, ever. I have all of their albums on CD of course but Heavier Than Thou was never released on CD.

Nice score on The Rods! I'm still missing Heavier Than Thou on vinyl.
