One of my most anticipated albums of 2013. Although it's going to be a double album, so hopefully there aren't a bunch of duds on it.
If this is any indication, it's going to pretty damn good.

I like Soilwork but their last few albums have been a little monotonose (sic). Nothing has been able to touch Figure Number Five for me.

I'm in the same camp, except that my record is 'Chainheart Machine' and then 'Natural Born Chaos'. I'm not asking for a repeat of the former, but SO much stuff afterwards has sounded like mushed up B-sides of the latter.

I think Natural Born Chaos is their best album by a mile, but I guess that's expected when you have someone like Devin Townsend at the helm. So I can understand how it's easy to be let down when they don't achieve such greatness again, but I've been able to kind of separate that from everything else and enjoy everything they've done since.
Not as good doesn't mean not good, you know. Then again, it's all taste. DB's favorite is Figure Number Five, and though I thoroughly enjoy that album, if I had to pick a weakest, it'd that one.

Yeah, I know I was off on the spelling. That's why I included the (sic). When I don't know how to spell a word I usually use google to get a correct spelling. However, sometimes I'm just too lazy to do it and it results in hilarity.

That last song is pretty good. Still tired of the same production on every record, though. Also, is every song going to be that short?

I am in the minority on this one but I actually think Soilwork has progressed and evolved from album to album. Most do not share this opinion because they see Soilwork's signature sound as part of their earlier strictly melodic death metal albums - Steelbath Suicide, Chainheart Machine and A Predator's Portrait.
While I agree that those albums are great, the band only improved upon that sound and started forging their own path and style ahead. The earlier albums I mentioned were only the beginnings showing what Soilwork could do but they also weren't that distinctive from other perhaps less famed melodic death metal bands.
For me, Soilwork really starts standing out from Natural Born Chaos onwards. Yes, I even like Stabbing the Drama which many seem to dislike (by the same token I like In Flames' Reroute to Remain). I read all the negative reviews about that album and what I found is many mistook the album for a mainstream attempt. In my eyes, it is the next step up from albums like Natural Born Chaos and Figure Number Five.
I enjoyed the latest Soilwork effort, The Panic Broadcast. In many ways I felt it was their strongest release to date - the songwriting quality being very similar to Natural Born Chaos. I found it to be a diverse album - it has something from every other previous Soilwork album and then some.
I dunno that's just my take on Soilwork. I really enjoy this band and for me it really stands out as one of the best melodic death bands out there.

I agree, Alex. Prior to Natural Born Chaos, while quite good, they were just another melodeath band. With NBC, however, they set themselves apart from the flock.
I say the same thing about In Flames. Everyone claims the early albums are the best. They're great, sure, but I enjoy the albums that came after, when the band sounds like no other. And Soundtrack To Your Escape is a great album, too. I have no idea why that one gets slammed by so many people. It was so trendy to trash that album, but it never made sense to me.

Like their gothernburg metal brother In Flames, they've grown old in the last few albums. Probably won't be picking it up.
I'll just keep praying for an At The Gates reunion

You guys heard this one yet? I know people are always wary of double albums, but this a rare case where it works. Both albums are excellent. This is easily their best album since Natural Born Chaos, and I only hold that one in higher regard because the hooks are so catchy and, mey being a Def Leppard fan boy, I lose it over super-catchy tunes, you know.
But The Living Infinite is easily one of their best albums.

I may just get it eventually. I've put a spending freeze on me until April so I won't be getting it anytime soon.

No Best Buy near you? It's $7.99. That's less than you pay for common used CDs! Haha.

I really want to but It's important to stick to a spending freeze. I was sick monday and missed 8.5 hours of work and our new supervisor is hell bent on getting us out an early everyday (I'm even going to have to get a second job soon). I'm going to have to get serious about holding off spending and sacrifices will have to be made. I'm even passing up the chance to buy the first three UDO albums from Stormspell:
With getting all the Pretty Maids albums, my recent DVDs, three t-shirts, and some other CDs in the past months, I really need to do this.

Well, compared to a lot of people I do have it easy (no kids, no wife, no rent-but that last one will change toward the end of the year). But in my little world, it's enough. Also, I forgot to mention that my student loans are going to be due again. My unemployment bereavement has expired. If the two job thing doesn't work out, then "trucking here I come".

Just pre-ordered their new EP, Beyond The Infinite. Unfortunately only available in Asia, so I paid about 20 beans for it. Sounds excellent, though.
I still think The Living Infinite kicks all kinds of ass. Both discs. Crazy that they had an additional five tracks seemingly of the same quality leftover.
