Saxon is always considered NWOBHM and they're not obscure. Most lists I look up list Priest and Maiden so I go with that. Sure Priest were around already but they still fit the sound to my untrained ear.
Priest were a part of the FIRST wave of British Heavy Metal that included bands like Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Judas Priest, Budgie, UFO, Motorhead, etc. Of course their sound fits in with the NWOBHM, they are one of the biggest inspirations on those new bands at the time.
Ha! I was checking to see if I had posted in this thread yet, and I see I started it. Forgot about this one. My top NWOBHM songs are probably about the same.
Not sure if Rogue Male really can be considered NWOBHM, because First Visit came out in '85 - but here is a track from them [the VERY first band I ever saw at First Ave - they opened for Savatage and the headliners were something called "Illusions". This was recorded at that show in '85. Saw no less than 200 shows at First Ave after that one].

They probably left it too long to release a record to be thought of as part of the NWOBHM movement but they had been around a long time before this came out in '86. Credit to them for sticking to their guns in a world of wall to wall thrash and glam.
