| Just found this cool forum and this is my first post! I want to share a little about a concert I went to a few months ago. I hope some of you find it interesting despite it not being current. I went to see Accept and Kreator September 30, 2012 at Emo's in Austin, TX. I mainly went for Accept as I'm a big fan from back in the day. Restless And Wild is one of my favorite albums ever. I was a little nervous about seeing Kreator as I have never been to a concert quite that heavy. I have several Kreator albums (on cassette) and was fascinated with Pleasure To Kill and Terrible Certainty back in the 1980s. I also have the EPs Flag Of Hate and Out Of The Dark, Into The Light. I haven't heard an album by them since Extreme Aggression. Then again, not until recently thanks to Spotify, I hadn't heard an Accept album since Russian Roulette (well, I am an '80s metal lady). Emo's advertised the concert times wrong. They had the opening act (forget the name) starting at 9pm, but they actually started at 8pm and Accept started at 9pm. I walked into the venue as Accept was playing my favorite song by them, "Restless And Wild." Fortunately, they had just started it and I was able to video record most of it as I was making my way to as close to the stage as possible (got to the second row back). The singer, at first, referred to us as Houston: "Hey Houston!" "It's great to be here in Houston," or something like that. I thought it was a joke at first, but he kept doing it. Guys in the crowd shouted "Austin," but he didn't hear them. Wolf Hoffman walked over and told him in his ear and he apologized and asked, "You guys are friendly, right?" That was pretty funny. Anyway, their show was awesome. They had so much energy. They played new material like "Stalingrad," but also played a lot of '80s songs I came to hear like "Princess Of The Dawn" (another favorite of mine), "Up To The Limit," "Fast As A Shark" which included the opening "Ein Heller und ein Batzen" (always a crowd pleaser), and "Metal Heart." They didn't play any encores which surprised me a bit. I waited for the crew to set up the Kreator set which included two huge displays of their current album cover (which is very cool looking). There was a lot of memorabilia for both bands being sold including Accept arm bands and Kreator jogging shorts (!). The Accept Restless And Wild woman's shirt was sold out when I got there, but it is nice to see they are offering clothes made for women now as there are a lot of female metal fans. Many people were wearing Kreator shirts with old school images like the awesome Pleasure To Kill cover and Terrible Certainty. The Kreator set was loud with smoke and intense flashing lights. I didn't recognize any of the songs (it was hard to make them out) until they played "Pleasure To Kill" and, for the last or one of the last songs, "Flag Of Hate" (though it had been probably over a decade since I heard that one, and didn't really recognize it). Someone let me up to the side rail for most of the show. I didn't always see the singer at center stage and wondered where he went. He sometimes moved to the back left side (from the fan's perspective) of the stage where a microphone was set up. I noticed two gals in the front row. One had her boobs sticking out and a guy in the pit with a camera was taking pictures of them without her even noticing. A bouncer was giving another gal a hard time. He kept trying to push her back and she was protesting. I'm not sure what she did. This went on a while until the singer for Kreator noticed. He told the bouncer to back off and knelt at the edge of the stage to listen to the gal blubber about it. I'm not sure if he heard her over the fan noise but he told the bouncer to leave her alone and then gave an anti-violence message to the crowd. I got that on video but didn't think of recording the bouncer harassing the woman. Wish I had gotten the whole thing. Crazy crowd. A lot of moshing but, for the most part, a good experience with the fans I encountered being very polite. | |

| Very cool, I was surprised to see Kreator headline over Accept. It sounds like a kick ass show, wish that tour had hit my area. | |

Yeah, I was surprised by that, too. When I saw the concert being advertised on Facebook, Accept was in big, bold letters (because I "like” them on FB). It wasn’t until I bought the tickets that I saw that Kreator was the headliner. I think of both bands as headliners, actually; but, if there is to be a late show headliner, it would have to be Kreator. If Udo was still with Accept, they would be headlining on their own, I bet. | |

| Nice review! Welcome to the board.
I saw Kreator at a tiny club in Seattle back around 1995, they were playing for probably 40 people in the audience...but that didn't seem to bother the band, they played their asses off for the people that did attend.

| Hey "80's Metal Lady"! Good username! (Why didn't I think of 80's Metal guy??) Looks like you saw the same show I had seen just a few weeks earlier in Columbus, Ohio (my show review is near the bottom of the page your review is posted on). I liked your review and pics, and I agree that the merch selection was great, too bad u missed out on the 'lady's cut' t-shirt u wanted! I wish I had noticed the Kreator jogging shorts you described!-maybe they too were sold out by the time I got there. Everything was priced reasonably also and that stuff is always much more pricey online, IF you can find it, and IF you can find a site this that isn't all Euro-money-only. Also agree that Kreator tend to push the audio limits a bit. That was the 2nd time I've seen them and both times they were "too loud"(?) if that's possible! I equate that with the phenomenon of bands sometimes recording their releases "too loud", ala Metallica "Death Magnetic", and not paying so much attention to clarity & instead focusing simply on what the technology tells them they can do so far as maxxing out their sound. Right idea, wrong approach. Iron Maiden's "A Matter of Life and Death" is a great example of a band taking the opposite approach and "dumbing down" the tech and recording an album in analog fashion, and the result is something that you can play at nearly any high volume with no distortion and also still have great clarity. I'm not a tech expert, but I assume that's what kreator mildly suffers from in their live presentation. And yes, Accept was outstanding! They sort of stole the show to some extent. Hope they tour together again next time. (and bring Sodom along with them!) | |

| Nice review, brother - I'm a fellow newbie to the forum as well. I love Kreator and Accept. I saw Accept in 1986 with Dokken supporting - awesome show. I love the pics, by the way. | |
