| I think someone else is buying out the name and will use it in the future. It's too big to die out. | |

I read in today's paper that the owners are looking to sell, but nothing is official. They said Hostess has been in buiness for over 80 years. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I'm more saddened by the loss of Zingers (the Dolly Madison brand was a Hostess subsidiary).

| Honestly, I've always been more of a Tastykake man myself (they were more local), but I've enjoyed my share of Hostess products over the years. One of their main bakeries isn't that far from my house. Shutting down that plant is BIG news in the Philly area. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Tastykake for me too; nothing compares to a Butterscotch Krimpet! Hostess shutting down is big news here too as the have a major plant here. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| In Texas we have Mrs. Baird's (now owned by Bimbo) and they're cupcakes are light years better than Hostess. As for twinkies, I've never been very big on them. Everyting else Hostess has, there are alternatives (again, most from Mrs. Baird's) | |

| There's another brand called "Mrs. Freshley" that have some products that are similar to Hostess. Like those little crumb donuts that are pretty good. At least Entenmann's is still around. They have better tasting stuff than Hostess IMO. But that being said, the Hostess brand has been around for a long time... It's like Kellogg's discontinuing Frosted Flakes. | |

| Zinger were the ones with Peanuts characters on 'em right? I remember loving the "red ones" but I don't even remember what flavor they were. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| When I was a kid in the late 70s, Hostess Twinkies/Cup Cakes/etc. were a big deal cuz they used to print baseball cards on the bottoms of the boxes. I remember hassling my Mom to buy Twinkies not for the cakes, but because I wanted the cards.
My brother and I would stand there in the store taking box after box off the shelf and flipping them over to see which players were on the bottom. Of course, Yankee players like Thurman Munson and Reggie Jackson were the Holy Grails. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Of course, Yankee players like Thurman Munson and Reggie Jackson were the Holy Grails. I just brought this with up with a few people. I wasn't even much of a fan of the Hostess products as a kid, but when I saw that they had baseball cards on the bottom that you cut out along a perforated age, I was excited. I've always had this thing about cream filling, and to this day, I still don't really care for that stuff. Anything that is filled, kind of makes me gag. The one Hostess product, I would eat were the cupcakes, but I wouldn't touch the middle. I hated Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and f*ck those fruit pies. | |
